Same exact thing happened to me and I called and they said I could still come in so I did. I had a very light period at that point with the Mirena so it wasn't an issue for them or me.
As a nurse I would have to say to just keep the appt. They are used to it, and I would assume it would still be ok. You may want to call though and see if they can still do it just so you dont waste a visit.
FWIW, my doc did an internal when I was having a m/c. It wasnt fun, but it wasnt that bad. They are used to it.
My Ob usually does not want to see patient's during their period, but since you're getting your IUD removed, it may affect their decision. I would imagine it might make it easier for the removal.

I feel that I can speak with absolute certainty when I say that this will not be the grossest thing your OB sees today. I would keep the appointment.
