  Same exact thing happened to me and I called and they said I could still come in so I did.  I had a very light period at that point with the Mirena so it wasn't an issue for them or me.

  I feel that I can speak with absolute certainty when I say that this will not be the grossest thing your OB sees today.  I would keep the appointment.

  As a nurse I would have to say to just keep the appt.  They are used to it, and I would assume it would still be ok.  You may want to call though and see if they can still do it just so you dont waste a visit. 

  FWIW, my doc did an internal when I was having a m/c.  It wasnt fun, but it wasnt that bad.  They are used to it.

  My OB actually told me to make an appt. to remove Mirena when I was having my period.

  I had my IUD removed while I was on my period.  I called the day before, and they said I was lucky, it was actually a *good* thing, pain wise.

  My Ob usually does not want to see patient's during their period, but since you're getting your IUD removed, it may affect their decision. I would imagine it might make it easier for the removal.
