Heartburn Question

I have had heartburn for the past several days & I must say it's severe.  It burns sooo bad & it's causing me to throw up because it burns my throat so bad.  I thew up dark blood yesterday and today because of it.  Should I call my doctor since I am throwing up blood?  If you have severe heartburn, what do you take? TIA

    I'm going to go with "yes please call your doc". I've never had heartburn until getting pg, but that throwing up blood part concerns me. I have had bad heartburn/reflux and have thrown up a couple of times. I find that now if I make sure I stay away from the trigger foods, limit how much I eat, and drink a cup of water/1 tsp baking soda it helps. I hope you feel better!

    My heartburn never got too bad(I was expecting it to b/c I have GERD) so I only had to take antacids a few times...I really think you should call your doctor...you'd rather be safe than sorry plus that's what we pay them for!

    Yes, call your doctor!  If you are throwing up blood, it's better to be safe and call the doctor. 

    I've been taking Pepcid AC (the big chewable ones).  They seem to work well for me.

    Zantac is what my Dr recommended and it works really well.  Be careful about baking soda...it can cause water retention which may cause you to swell.  I say most definitely call the Dr about the blood.  Let us know what they say!

    Absolutely call your doctor!!  I started out taking OTC Pepcid and was then prescribed Nexium for my awful heartburn....seriously, it started at 7 weeks.  Please keep us posted!
