If your LO takes soothie pacis

DD is now 4 months,,, I tried a 3+ months soothie and she hates it.  She likes the soft 0-3 soothie.  Guess we'll just continue with these for now.  Anyone else with this issue?

Re: If your LO takes soothie pacis

  • we are using the preemie soothie still- if it's not broke don't fix it :)

Your little Violet is sure adorable. Great name ;)

  • We are still using the newborn soothies.  I figure that if she decides she doesn't like it anymore then I'll attempt to wean at that time since I'm not a huge fan of pacis in general.  Right now I wouldn't get any sleep if I didn't let her have it though.

  • still using infant soothie here also.  i purchased some of the infant ones by accident after we first started using them and have tried them every once in a while and he hates them also.
  • We also tried to use the 3+ soothies and LO would have nothing to do with them, they seem really tough or something.
  • LO has decided that she is anti-pacifier and pro finger chewing - not sucking but chewing.

However, I agree with a pp - if it's not broke don't fix it. I don't think there is anything wrong with staying on the 0-3 month soothie. I know I didn't plan on changing our soothie to the older one and thats partially because they are extremely hard for me to find for some odd reason and since I lose pacifiers with every step it would have been dangerous for me to get LO attached to the older soothie...

  • thanks everyone!
  • Hi ladies--just thought I'd jump in on this one.  Eli has never taken a paci, but my toddler, Samuel, was a Soothie junkie.  The hospital gave it to him in the NICU and he used it up until the point where he bit through it 2 weeks after his 2nd birthday and we took it away cold turkey.  I know, I know, we should have taken it away sooner, but he loved it and he was my baby--I wasn't flipping out about him having a binky.

Anyways, I said all of that to say that it COMPLETELY messed up his teeth!  In the 2 1/2 months since he's been without it, his teeth have moved to a near normal position.  Let me post some pics, just so you know what you could be dealing with--

Before we took Soothie away (yes, he's cute, but with messed up binky teeth!)

Just a FYI or word of advice, I guess.
