Travelling and LO's sleeping arrangements..

DD has never had a problem sleeping in her pack n play when we travel, up until now.  She's still in her crib at home but I think the pack n play is getting a little small for her to sleep in; she moves around alot at night and bumps into the sides, which wakes her up.  I'm wondering what else I can have her sleep in/on when we travel.  Any suggestions?

  • Are you staying at hotels?  Most hotels have no problems setting up a crib in your room.

  • Usually time shares.  Also, my IL's have a house upstate NY which we go to occasionally for weekends.  They do have an extra bed in the other room, but again, she's never slept in a bed yet.

I was going to suggest this too. We only used  a pnp at a hotel once, when DD was 7 months old. After that we've stayed in hotels twice and asked for a crib. They give you a portable crib, it's a little smaller than a regular crib, but DD has slept very well in it.

  • A friend of mine has an AeroBed for kids (for her 3yo) and swears by it.  I've thought about trying it for DD, but I'm a little nervous about an air mattress for some reason. It is pretty firm when it's inflated and has a fitted sheet that comes with it and fits tightly.  For now, though, I usually get a room with 2 double beds and DD and I sleep in one, DH in the other.

  • Are the portable cirbs bigger than a pack n play? (I have a Chicco pnp).  But I still need something for when we go to my IL's house
  • We bought a PeaPod Plus for this very reason.  Haven't had a chance to use it yet but I'm really looking forward to it.

We got the Aerobed for her and she loves it!  It is sunken in so she can't fall out and I will just sleep next to her on the couch when we go visit my sister in San Fran next month.
