So... my blood pressure has been 140-150/86-95 for the last few hours. I'm waiting on a call from the doc. They told me to call if it rose higher than 90 on the bottom number.
What are they going to say? Take it easy? Bed Rest? Hospital? I'm clueless. Worrying probably isn't going to make things better.
Re: pre-e?
At 34.5 weeks, they'll try to get you to 36 or 37 at least. First, they will likely do a 24 hour urine test see if you have pre-e. The BP is only half the story- they need to know if you haver protien in your urine.
Bedrest is one option. If it's too high, they can put you in the hospital and monitor you - give you a water pill daily to lower your BP is another option. As a last resort, they will induce you or do a c-section.
All of that happened to me and I had an emergency c-section at 36 weeks. My doctor said my BP was too high to induce me (150/100 on the day I had my son) so they did a c-section.
As long as your doctor knows about it and monitors you, it will be ok!
IUI- BFN IVF #1 -BFP! Allie is our 2nd IVF baby. Born at 36 1/2 weeks after pre-e again
I don't have pre-e, but I do have gestational hypertension. I'm off of work and on "stress rest". I'm monitoring my BP at home and am supposed to call the doctor if I have 3 consecutive readings of 140 and/or over 90+
If that happens, I will have to do a 24-hour observation in the hospital (along with another urine collection and blood work) and we'd take it from there. (Both OB and I want to avoid induction if at all possible).
If that happens past 39 weeks, I will automatically be induced.
So in my case, we're hoping LO comes on his/her own before 39 weeks.
They'll try to get things under control before they jump to delivery, unless you are full blown pre-eclamptic.
Take it easy and don't worry too much !
