DS didn't spit up, but had horrible silent reflux. DD seems to have the typical newborn/infant reflux, but is a spitter-upper. She spits up after most nursing sessions - sometimes just a little, sometimes a little more. BUT she occasionally spits up A LOT - like vomiting, but it doesn't seem to hurt her, doesn't seem difficult to come out (meaning no heaving), and doesn't seem to affect her afterwards, except that she's typically hungry afterwards.
I've looked it up online and it seems that she'll outgrow it and I don't really need to be too worried...but I was just curious to see if others experienced this and how long did it last?
Thanks!!
Re: Did anyone have a LO who was a "happy spitter" when they were younger?
Oh great... I hope it doesn't take that long.
Thanks for letting me know, though!
Yeah, I think it was the same for us with ds. Lots of burp cloths around the house and lots of clothes spit up on.
This exactly. DD spit up so much. It never bothered her, and she never had trouble gaining weight. In fact, DD was a huge chunker! Those first few months it worried me, then I saw that it was really not a big deal. I wonder if our next babies will have the same issue? Bring on the laundry!
DS was a happy spitter as well, and gained just fine. I only BFed for 2 months, then switched to Similac Sensitive. Finally at 6 months, I was so fed up with the spitting that I decided to try Similac Soy...even though he wasn't hurting/upset/bothered by/losing weight because of the "happy" spitting, I wasn't so "happy" about it, lol! Within a few days the spitting up all but stopped. And, at a year, he switched to whole milk with no problem.
Good luck, and buy some stock in laundry detergent and stain sticks
