I have always been tempted to use something like G-diapers. But, when DD was first born and going through so many diapers a day, I just decided to do disposable. Plus, with DD going to a sitter during the day, I didn't want to make it any more difficult on her than needed.
But, I am still very interested in doing the cloth route, maybe on the weekends and at night when we are at home? Just to save the cost of extra diapers.
Anyone have any experience with cloth diapering? What about cloth diapering and older children? Anyone use cloth diapers and send their child to a sitter or daycare?
I didn't know if it's worth making the investment in cloth when DD could be pottytrained in a year.
Any recommendations or tips would be great!
Re: Anyone use cloth diapers?
we have a few cloth diapers - when A. is at home and is looking at she's getting a little red bum, I'll put her in a CD.
I can't remember the two that I have - but I think I like the diapers w/ covers and inserts - ones that you can just replace the insert, versus having to change the whole thing.
This is us. I really really wanted to do cloth diapering, but just didn't follow through. If I was at home I would. Our laundry is out of control as it is. I can't imagine trying to keep up with cloth diapers and working full time.
Yup this is us. Posies until the cord is gone and the malconiom is all over with and then on to CDing. We are going to be using the FLIP system. Which I guess is a lot like the G diapers but FLIP is one size.
AAH! Flip - that is the one I like - the cover can be "reused" and you can insert new inserts if they are just wet. The other one I have - is nice but it has a liner and you have to change every thing even if they pee.
Most cloth diapering pays for itself after 3-4 months. The average age for potty training on disposables in 18 months - 3 years. Yes some train younger but it is rarer these days. And old potty trainer with CDs is 18 months, 12 is the average. It has a lot to do with the fact that the LO actually notices when they go and they can put the dots together.
And if you are having any more children you can save CDs for the next. I know one family that is using the same stuff on baby 3 as they did baby 1. With a few replacements. But they figured it out and have spent a total of $400 on diapers for all their kids. That's about 10 months of disposable.
Okay I'm done rambling now. I really need to take my nap.... lol
This is the kind we have as well.
I agree, Kristi. The chemical burn stuff is just crazy. I've switched to Luv's.
