Question re: first pp pap

At my 6 week visit, my ob's office said I'm due for a pap in June.  I am about to call and make the appt, but I am still on maternity leave and don't have anyone to watch DS unless DH stays home from work.  Would I be out of line to ask if I can bring him?  I know lots of women take LO with them to the 6 week visit, but when does it stop being okay?  What would you do -- ask to bring him or ask DH to stay home from work?

Re: Question re: first pp pap

  • I have mine in June too and if I can't get one of my neighbors to watch DS he'll be going with me.  I would see people bringing kids all the time so I don't think it is a big deal.

  • I would just bring him. When I made the appointment for my pap and Mirena insertion my OB specifically asked that I bring him so she could see him!

He did just fine and slept through the appointment.

  • I would bring him. I have brought him to some of my PP visits, and my OB loved it saying he hardly sees them as outside babies. Once they start to run around I may try to find someone to babysit, but for the first year I would think it's fine to bring your LO.

  • I take DD to all my appts. OB and nurses love seeing her, and they are usually pretty quick appointments, if needed DD can stay in her car seat or I'll hold her during the exam if necessary.

  • Great, thanks all!  I wasn't able to bring him to my 6 week appointment, so she actually hasn't seen him yet.  I'm sure she'll enjoy seeing him.
  • i think its absolutely fine to bring your LO. I have and I do.
