  We have the Summer Infant Portable.

  -our bedroom is downstairs and DD's room is upstairs, it helps to look and know "what's happening" when deciding if it's worth going upstairs.

  -It can be staticky.

  We have the Summer Infant Day&Night (it's the blue one w/the 2.5" screen, available online)

  Love it and I do not know how I would have survived without it.

  I did have a static issue with the first handheld, but Summer Infant replaced it without a problem. The second one had a dud battery, again, replaced without a problem.  When they told me how and when to actually keep it plugged in, I haven't had any issues since.

  The only drawback I can think of is perhaps the price, but I still think it's worth it.

  We have the summer handheld digital one.  We just got it about few weeks ago, but it is for our 2 year old.  He sleeps downstairs on the other end of the house.  We are moving him to a big boy bed in a few weeks and want to keep tabs on him.  So far it is priceless for the entertainment value, but I am sure its value will go up once it is used how it is supposed to be used.

  1. We have the Summer day/night handheld one

  2. Benefits - LOVE IT!  We have had it 2 yrs and never had a problem.  We still use it.  I have always liked seeing what DD is actually doing in her crib.

   3. Drawbacks - For us there hasn't been any.  We have never had any issues with our monitor.

  Hi there, MOO;) Can't wait to hear you've had your lil one... the time will fly by, trust me!!

  I have the Angelcare and the sound is good but I hated the false alarms all the time waking up DC, so I never used it past month #1 with DD. Frustrated me. As for video monitors, totally worth the $. We didn't buy the most expensive, but we love the one we got: Summer Infant Slim & Secure. Picture is excellent during the day and pretty clear in the dark as well--you can see if your DC's eyes are open or closed in the dark... that's pretty good, IMO.

  I would buy one, with an extra camera. You're going to love it so much, that you'll want one in Olivia's room, as well. That's what happened to us. The extra camera is available at BRU online, not in our BRU store.

  We have this one, too.  We bought it when DD was 11 months old because we were on vacation and had forgotten our monitor.  It's great.  We just moved into a 3 story house, and it works anywhere in the house and out in the backyard.

  I love it--wish we'd gotten it sooner.  No drawbacks that I've found.

  we've had the Summer Infant Day/Night hand held and love it.  We were going to upgrade to the Best view b/c of the zoom/pan but opted for a 2nd camera to save $. It's been great to have through every stage.  i will probably get the Best View when we have another LO.

  -Summer Infant Night/Day handheld and Summer Infant Best View Digital. We had the first one for over a year and it got really staticky, so we bought the 2nd one. But Summer replaced the first for free, even past the warranty date, so now we have one for each child. Yay!

  -loads of benefits. It's reassuring when you hear them fuss but can see that they are in fact in a sleeping position, maybe just whining in their sleep. If I'd had this when he was tiny, maybe we wouldn't have so many problems. I rushed in all the time when he was crying when maybe I would've waited a little longer with the video monitor. And although we didn't have it with our son as a newborn, I'm sure that being able to make sure he's still on his back & safe is great.

  -Price. Can't think of any other drawbacks.

  Summer infant handheld

  You can see what ds is doing at all times.  If they make a noise you can see if they are stuck, in the right position, putting themself back to sleep, uncovered, etc.  It is much better than going up to check and waking them distracting them peeking in.

  I found NO drawbacks except it's hard to stop using it! I had to have one for both kids.  And we've used the first one for 2.5 years and it's about done for b/c it was used so much!  Excellent with toddlers too.  You can see if they are in thier bed or getting out etc.
