I dropped my laptop and pretty much broke my monitor - has this happened to anyone before? Can that part be replaced? Or am I going to have to get a new one?
We have a Dell laptop and my husband picked it up by the top and cracked the screen badly. When we called (since it was out of warranty) they told us it'd be cheaper to buy a new laptop all together, which we did. I forget the estimate but it wasn't cheap. Is yours under warranty still?

That happened to me. It was just as expensive to get a new screen as a new laptop. And mine was designed so you couldn't remove and replace it on your own. You needed special tools and you had to send it to the company. This was about 6 years ago, so maybe things have changed.
My laptop screen became very dim that I can't see it so I called a repair shop and they said that it would cost several hundred dollars to replace and since my laptop's 5 years old, it would be better to go out and buy a new one. I haven't done that yet. In the meantime, I hooked it up to a monitor we've had and use it that way.
