Houston Babies

babies r us question

are there stores that are better than others?  dh and i went to the one on i-10 tonight and i was really disappointed.  i havent been in one in a couple years, but remember it being packed to the gills with stuff.  this one seemed like there weren't enough aisles (like stuff was missing).  there also wasn't a huge selection of furniture or anything else.  maybe i've just been hearing from so many people how it is so crazy in there with how much stuff there is that my expectations were out of whack.  i was completely disappointed.   they also didnt have any registry info to take along nor was there a salesperson to talk to.  bleh.   i get that it's a random monday night, but come on  is the one out by 290 and tidwell any good?  it's the other one convenient to the heights...

  • Yes, some are bigger and carry more/different products. If you mean the one at Bunker Hill then you'll be disappointed at all the others- that one is their "flagship" and I believe the largest. It's where we went to register.

BRU isn't the only place you can register so if you were disappointed try Target or some of the smaller, specialty shops.

The 290 and Hollister store is larger if you're just talking BRU. The clothing section is probably 3x as big as Bunker Hills.

yeah, we were at bunker hill.  that's supposed to be a flagship store?  yikes.  maybe i should just go back when it's busier?

i just couldnt get over the maybe 10 gliders they had to try, which included multiples in different colors.  after hearing how it takes so much time to look at the tons of furniture they have, you'd think they'd have more than a handful of gliders.

  • Honestly, I'm by and large disappointed with BRU, because half the stuff I actually want isn't freakin' available in the store.

So I'm doing a lot of registering on Amazon.

  • I think the problem is that it's a BRU/TRU store combined. The Sugar Land store (I know it's not close to you, but it's the one closest to me and one I can compare to) is strictly a BRU and has a MUCH larger furniture section. I prefer to shop at the TRU and BRU stand alone stores.

I agree that the combined store may be the issue. Will definitely check out one that's just BRU! Quizzle, where are you trying out stuff in person if registering on amazon? Anywhere that has what you are looking for? I like the amazon idea, but like seeing stuff in person too.

Ditto this. I'm not a fan of the combined stores. MIL bought our glider from the Sugarland location and they had at least 20 to try out on the floor.

  • The 290 and Tidwell one is nice and there is also one in Katy and I-10 and Fry that also is a lot bigger than the one at Bunker Hill.

Oh yea - it is a combo store. No wonder I like the Sugarland and Friendswood ones better. So why is Bunker Hill their flagship? Lame.

I don't think it's their flagship. I think it's just the newest one. And the selection sucks.

I don't think the selection at any BRU is *that* great. A lot of times it seems like there are so many choices out there until you can't find the kind of thing you're looking for. Then it seems like there is nothing. To me, what BRU carries is a lot of versions of almost the same thing.

I prefer the location at Fry Road and I-10. The cashiers at the Fry Rd store are usually not the most friendly or helpful (understatement) but I find their selection to be much better than Bunker Hill.

There's a lot of furniture at the 290 store too, though I don't know how it compares to Sugarland.

  • The bunker hill staff really sucks, they have a really big turn over and right now are way under staffed. I usually just go to the one by the galleria. Even if it is a side by side I usually have to take my oldest to the toy store anyways so it makes it easier. lol As for registering I ended up going to like 3 different stores just to get all the stuff i wanted. Not all stores carry the same items so it can really be a pain. You can always order a certain item if its not in stock at a certain store. " cribs and big ticket items".
