i'm being a nervous nellie...

I've had cramping for 3 weeks or so and it's making me nervous.  Before we found out we were pregnant, I just chalked it up to PMS and AF getting ready to show.  Now that I'm pregnant, I'm worrying myself half to death.  I automatically assume the worst (I try not to, but it's just so scary!), and I finally broke down and called the doctor today.  She said I need to make sure I'm drinking a ton of water and eating a ton of fiber, since gas, bloating, and constipation can cause cramping.  She said if I haven't had any spotting or bleeding (which I haven't), then I don't have a lot to worry about.  I just can't shake that feeling though.  I don't go to the dr until June 7th to confirm.  I'm sure everything is fine, but I can't help but be a nervous nellie...

Anyone want to give me some reassurance and any similar experiences they might have had?  Embarrassed

  • I cramped and spotted until 9 weeks with this pregnancy. I thought it was over the day after I got my BFP because I was bleeding so much...Your body is just getting situated for the long haul....Keeping you in my thoughts.

  • I don't have any experience with that but I've read that can be typical.  I hope it subsides for you soon.

  • I had AF-like cramping during the first several weeks of both pregnancies.  The doctor told me there was nothing to worry about unless there was bleeding.  I think it's completely normal.  I still get cramping occasionally now, even at 20 weeks.  I know it's hard not to worry, but listen to your doctor and you will be fine!
  • I had the same thing pretty much throughout my whole first trimester. I was really nervous about it too, so I asked my doctors about it (more than once)! Each time I got the same answer: "Don't worry, it's totally normal - it's just your uterus growing and stretching!" They were right, so I hope you don't worry too much between now and your appointment... easier said than done - I know! Hang in there :)
  • Thanks, ladies.  I did get some spotting tonight - brownish, not bright red.  I called the doctor just to make sure because I knew I wouldn't sleep otherwise and she told me she wants me in the office tomorrow to do bloodwork and an ultrasound, just to see what's going on and to hopefully put my mind at ease until my appt on june 7th.  She said she knows how nervewracking it can be to a first-time mom, so she will check it and explain everything to me step-by-step tomorrow.  I said things must be going okay because my hormones sure are making me emotional. lol

I'll keep you guys updated.  Thanks for the support... Embarrassed
