NTTGPR: New Music Needed!

I am in a music slump and I need some new tunes. The last band that I found that I became addicted to was Blind Pilot.

What are some of your favorite new music discoveries?

  • Not so new, but I can listen to Citizen Cope and Michael Franti & Spearhead all day long.  Sam & Ruby is pretty good too.

I have loved Citizen Cope ever since I heard Sideways played on Scrubs :)

Sam & Ruby...I am listening to now, good Sunday morning music.

    Death Cab for Cutie

    Ingrid Michaelson

    Gomez

    Augustana

    The Temper Trap

    Howie Day

    Needtobreathe

And, of course, Ben Folds & Guster

We have alot of the same taste in music, I saw Augustana and Counting Crows from the 3rd row in San Diego several years ago, it was amazing and I walked down the aisle to Ben Fold's The Luckiest.

DH and both love music, I am lucky that he is 10 years older than me because he turned me on to the 80's punk rock (the Replacements, I adore) that I missed being in love with NKOTB :)

It was perfect for us and my DH met me halfway up the aisle and walked me the rest of the way (my father passed away before we met)

We walked back up the aisle at the end to Jimmy Cliff's Waterfalls which I cry at now everytime I hear it. It is another really amazing song.

Ok, I'm getting teary eyed just reading that! It's so nice to know I'm not the only person who decided to not walk down the aisle to the Wedding March or Canon in D. I am going to look into that song tonight for sure.

I actually walked down the aisel... err, grass to Tuesday's Gone by Lynard Skynard, just the intro part. I love the opening of that song. We walked back to  White Lines and Red Lights by Between the Trees. DH and I would always kiss at redlights after seeing an elderly couple do it one day, so the song was beyond perfect.

  • I have to say I love the Weepies. Their song "Somebody Loved" is just...emotional.

I love that song! We did not play any traditional wedding music, my bridesmaids walked down to an instrumental version of Yankee Bayonet by the Decemberists.

I love so many of those, I will have to check out a few,

By the way, how badly suffer with the live music selection in the upstate? Every band is either a jam band or a southern rock coverband, which is why DH and I are always driving to Asheville or Athens.

We don't see live music very often anymore. Sometimes we get out with DD, but then we don't really care what we're even listening to. Ha!
