Staycee/Dip

Hi! :)

I hope you don't mind me posting here but I have a quick question:

Provera did it's job and I'm on CD3 today. Do you think I should call my OB to see if they want me to do any bloodwork today?

well, if you're going to need any, CD3 is a general baseline that they usually require.

I have no background with an OB though.   Are they doing extensive testing?   How long have you been trying?   How about going to an RE?   RE's usually seem to help a bit more thoroughly.    I guess it depends on what your issue is.   Some people can just get some unmonitored clomid from their OB and have everything work out.    However some people spend lots of wasted months with an OB only to have to start almost back to square one with and RE.

sorry if I'm getting too nosy - however, that is the nature of this board/topic.

  • You are not being too nosy at all. I am just clueless. :P

background is - I just had a cycle that was 105 days. Saw my idiot GP around CD 60, then saw an OB at CD 90. Dip posted a couple of weeks ago with the tests that my OB ordered, none of which were specified for CD3 (but maybe they should have been?). I have been off of BCP since 9/09.

I'm just thinking that if this cycle goes super long again it will be a couple of months before I can get tests done at the right time. I guess I will just wait it out this month and hope that I don't have another super crazy cycle.

    long cycles suck.

I bet you got bloodwork done at the time to see where your levels were, which could tell your ob where you were at in you cycle.   Different hormones such as estrodial fluctuate high and low depending on whether you are gearing up to O, have just O'd or whatever.   So maybe that is what your OB was looking for.

CD3 bloodwork is generally the baseline bloodwork for a cycle - to see where you are starting at to compare later cycle bloodwork too if need be and to make sure your hormone levels are all starting out at appropriate levels each cycle.

So, you probably don't need CD3 b/w yet.   Unless you start to have lots of recurring super-long cycles.

Do you chart?  Do you know if your O'd on that 105 day cycle (Just O'ing late?).   Or was that cycle annovulatory?    It's not too uncommon to have a really occasional random annov. cycle.   So hopefully your long one was a fluke and you are back on track now!

  • thanks for the info. I didn't chart that cycle. We had a lot of stressful stuff occur in the beginning of that cycle, so I just gave up and decided to take the month (or 3.5, months, as it ended up) off.

hopefully things get back on track. thank you!
