Doctor's Appt. Tomorrow.. ?s to ask

Hey girls... I sort of touched on this last week in my post, but my OBGYN does not take the maternity insurance I was able to get. He is the only one who doesn't, who knows why, but whatever. I am going to a new doctor tomorrow, and I really hope I like her. I have an ultrasound scheduled so they can rule out a tubal pregnancy, and my other doctor will send over the lab work that was done last week. What questions should I ask her in terms of deciding if she's "the one"? Obviously if I like her personality-wise that's good, but as far as medical stuff what should I try to figure out on the first appointment with her? TIA!

phone call policy- can you call at any time, will you be billed for calls?

How many dr's in her practice?

Of her patients, how many does she end up delivering- does she make it to the hosp. for all patients or does she generally leave it to the on call dr?

    policy in induction?

where does she send your labs? is there a lab in her office? is there one you go to nearby?

HTH, I'll let you know if I can think of any more...

  • Hi Tara!

I think it really depends on the type of birth that you eventually want.  Although that may seem REALLY far away right now, everything you do with your OB will lead up to that culminating event =)

I would read a bit more on your labor/birth options, and this material will likely spark any questions that you might have.  I really enjoyed reading "Your Best Birth" but some people will say that this book lends itself to more natural birthing options.  I def. think Krissie's questions are a good start, though!

    Good luck!!!

  • I just wanted to say both of these ladies had great ideas for you and of course my brain is too smashed to think of any more =P good luck tomorrow - I'll be waiting to hear from you!!! Xoxox
  • I changed OBs around 7 weeks and really like the new practice. I was recommended to this new OB and we clicked the second she walked in the door. She also asked a lot more questions than my last OB who I went to for 2 years. I also liked her nurse and how fast they respond. Good luck and hope everything works out!
