Ft Bragg Moms, come on in....

Hello Ladies,

I am not military, but I am moving to the Ft. Bragg area in the next 3 weeks for a job.  My husband and I are expecting our first in October and are trying to move with 2 dogs and a piano.  So, I was hoping you all would be kind enough to help me with some information.

I have one girlfriend who used to live in Fayetteville about 5 years ago and she has shared TERRIFYING stories of Bragg Blvd and the area in general.  How safe do you all feel?  Are there any apartment facilities or duplexes that you call could reccomend in a good neighborhood?

Also, I am high risk.  Anyone know of a good high risk OB?

Sorry to barge in on you all's board, but any help would be GREAT!!

K is stationed at Bragg, but we live in Fayetteville. Bragg Blvd is very, very shady and we stay off of it as much as we can, but I think that's more because neither of us is in need of a hooker, happy ending or drugs than because we're scared of it.

We live closer to Hope Mills and Raeford, but still in Fayetteville and I feel plenty safe. We have a security system in use at our house, but we would have it regardless of which city we live in. We have had our lawn mower stolen twice, but we upped the locks on the shed and it hasn't happened again.

I have several friends that live off Reilly Rd. in apartments and they love them and another group that lives just off Cliffdale in a nice apartment as well. We've lived in both Fayetteville and Spring Lake and I definitely prefer Fayetteville, but it's just personal opinion.

I delivered at Cape Fear Valley, but I wasn't high risk so I can't really help. Hope this helps a little!

I'd recommend staying away from Bragg Blvd - your friend is right that it isn't the best part of town. I used to live off Morganton Rd and would recommend Kings Cross apartments. They are gated, have a pool, workout facility, free tanning, tennis courts, and all around a great place!

I don't know of any high risk doctors. Best of luck to you!!

Man I keep forgetting this board is here. Maybe I'll have a reason to be active again.

    OP -

I can't help you on the High Risk OB. As for Bragg Blvd, I don't see a problem with it honestly. I've been to plenty of stores and food places on Bragg Blvd, and I've never felt unsafe. I don't know if it's because I'm black or what (totally not pulling the race card, I promise) since from what I've seen there is more of a concentration of black people in that area. It's the easiest way (for me) to get downtown as well. I mean it would be common sense to stay away from shady looking places, which there are plenty of on Bragg Blvd (read: strip clubs).

I live off of a side street that runs between S. Reilly and Yadkin. There is an apartment complex not even a mile from my house that looks really nice.

Ive been in Fayetteville for almost 4yrs. Im a city girl, so I stay right down the street from the mall on Morganton rd. The apartment complex is pretty good. Havent had any problems.

Theres a lot of apartment complexes around here & most of them are gated.

    I love you.

Yes, stay away from Bragg Blvd as much as possible.  We lived near Reilly and Cliffdale and our car got broken into twice and our back windows got smashed while we were gone.  Luckily, we had good neighbors that stopped them from stealing anything when they broke our windows.  We hated Fayetteville, but we didn't really have a choice.  I would definitely look for an apartment that is gated.  There are some on Morganton and Cliffdale that are decent.  Good luck!
