Hey ladies. After my belly measured small at a couple appts they decided to give me an ultrasound. The good news... I got confirmation it was a girl. The not great news (though I'm staying positive), my little girl is measuring in the 3rd percentile. And I will now have to go through weekly testing to make sure everything's okay. They'll check fluid level, blood flow and breathing. And then every 3 weeks she'll be remeasured.
Anyone else going through anything like this? If so, want a buddy?
Re: Measuring less than 10th percentile. Anyone else?
Same thing here! I measured behind for a few weeks so my OB had me get another ultrasound and baby girl was in the 6th percentile (at 33 weeks). My doctor automatically sends you to a perinatologist if they;re measuring less than 10th percentile. I saw the peri at 34 weeks and she was measuring 4lbs 2oz, didn't give me a percentile. Checked everything under the sun (placenta, fluid, blood flow in the cord, etc.) and she is just perfect, no explanation for why she's small. I just make small babies. DS was 5lbs7oz, born at 36w0d so I'm not surprised she's small as I'm carrying pretty much exactly the same way I did with him. I go back for a follow-up with the peri on Friday just to make sure she grew in the last two weeks.
The only thing that worries me is that I've had PTL since 31 weeks and am on meds (to stop contractions) and bed rest until 36 weeks (Monday), so it's a little nerve-wracking to think she could come early and be *too* small. DS was tiny and even though he was a whole month early, he was perfectly healthy and left the hospital with me. I'm a little more worried this time that we might have NICU time with this baby. But that's not necessarily related to her being small so that's nothing for you to worry about! Hope things work out for you! Keep me updated!
