We filled the forms out at the hospital to get the baby's birth certificate (well, a form to order with birth certificate with) and social security number mailed to us. I'm trying to enroll Sydney in our insurance, but they need a social security number. How long does it take to get it in the mail?
We have 30 days to enroll her officially, but I want to get it done sooner than later. I know the birth certificate form can take a while, but I think I remember hearing that the social security card comes sooner?
Re: Newborn's social security number?
DD's SS card came about a week after we got home. To get her BC, we had to send in some identifying info and $12/copy to DVR. We got her BC then a few weeks later.
To add DD to my health insurance, we had to submit her hospital discharge paperwork as most of the other stuff does not usually come within 30 days. Once we got her SS card, we had to call with her SSN.
That's because you get preferred treatment.
heehee, kidding!
