Postpartum Depression

Lexapro? (I'm from M/C & P/L Board)

Anyone taking it or tried it? Thoughts? I'm also taking Ambien and it's not working... Had anyone had an issue with the Lexapro making Ambien useless?! (I've tried Zoloft, Prozac, Clexa...)

I suffered from depression and anxiety prior to becoming pregnant. Stopped taking them, and then I lost our baby... =( Now I'm back on meds...

I'm sorry for your loss. I was on Lexapro and it really worked well for me - really got my anxiety under control. My doc also prescribed a sleeping pill for me (can't remember the name) - maybe you need something stronger than Ambien.

  • I'm so sorry to hear about your loss.

I'm on Cipralex which I'm pretty sure is just the Canadian version of Lexapro.  This is the 2nd time I've been on it and it works great for both depression & anxiety.

    Good luck.

  • I am currently on it and find it to be very good!  I've been on it for about 6 months and plan to wean myself (with my dr's help) over the summer.  I was also having some issues sleeping and my dr suggested taking it at night and taking a benadryl. I eventually stopped taking the benadryl and everything is great.  Hope it will be for you too!

  • I love lexapro. I started feeling the effects in 5 days, and felt like normal in 2 weeks. I haven't had any experiences taking it with Ambien though.
