Ugh. Shut up!

Can I just say I hate the whole, "you need a boy" or "you need a girl" comments? They drive me nuts. Why do people get disappointed that I am having another girl? Why do they care? Or the, "well, maybe the next one will be a boy." Ummmm.....are we living in the 1800s here? What does it matter? I don't need an heir. Can we just enjoy our kids for what they are?

Dude. This just pisses me off. The nerve of some people to make you feel like your child is less because it is not the sex they prefer is just thoughtless and RUDE!

Re: Ugh. Shut up!

  • People always have something to say. Trust me, I know, oh too well, that when you want to start a family you try for a baby NOT a gender.

I keep getting comments like " oh I am so sorry", " bless your heart", "well you can always try for a girl next"... it's annoying.

But then again, when Eric and I were dating all I would hear it "when are you getting married", then "it's time to have kids" (well that didn't last long since we got pg on our HM), then "when are you giving him a  sibling?", ".....

but the gender thing is by far the worse one, no one has control over it (even if some people I know are convinced they tried for a specific gender and succeeded, it was pure luck, that's it!)

  • I know what you mean!  I'm getting the "hope it is the pair" that way you get it over with."  Which obviously will make them disappointed if it is 2 of the same, right?!  Dude, as long as they are healthy, who gives a crap!

And I'm also getting the "well, at least you got it over w/ in one shot! You don't have to have anymore!"  So, when I DO get pg again, are the going to think we are rabbits or something?  Granted no one knows we have 4 embies left, but how about if we want 4 children?  What is it to them to tell me I'm over w/ child bearing after the twins?

    Why don't people just STFU!

wellI am still convinced you are having one of each ;) (you know I called it even before  you were pg!) but I also know that regardless of what is in between those legs, those babies are true blessings :)

My girlfriend has a 2 year old and 6 month old twins...she wants more and people look at her like she has lost her mind!

Oh, how I know these questions!  Dh and I dated for 5 yrs before the wedding, so we got the "when you getting married" tons.  Then we didn't get pg now for almost 5 yrs after wedding, so again we got tons the "when you having kids?"

  • It bothers me too.  I don't know why people don't just mind their own business.  I always get the comments about how perfect my family is, that I have a king's broad (yes, really), that I have my pair... etc.  Well my family is perfect but it's not because I have a son and a daughter, it's because I have the husband I want and the kids I was blessed with.  It's really annoying.  I have two sisters and that was perfect for my family - gender had nothing to do with it.  Anyway, I feel your pain.  Your girls are going to be perfect for you!

That was worded so perfectly, Dawn. As long as your family is healthy and happy, who cares what gender! Just ignore them, Mel. Sophie is going to LOVE having a little sister and whether you decide to have 10 more kids or close up shop, your family will be perfect.

  • I've been getting this a lot too since we are having another boy. So irritating. "Hopefully you'll get a girl the 3rd time" blah, blah, blah. It shuts them up when I tell them that this baby will complete our family and we are DONE and very happy with 2 boys.
  • OMG You read my mind! I can't wait to find out the sex of this baby on Wednesday and part of that is that I want people to shut up and stop telling me that they REALLY hope its a girl! I got so mad one day after many people posted on Facebook that they really hoped it was a girl that I wrote that I REALLY could care less about the sex of the baby (I just want a healthy baby) and that they better not be disappointed if we have a another boy! Even through I wrote that people still tell me that they want a girl! Unbelievable!

HA HA HA!!! Yeah ppl need to watch what they say.

  • I was just thinking about this this morning. Even though it's our first, everyone is playing the guessing game with the sex which is fun.  But, I also wondered if that would come with unwanted opinions with the second baby.  From your experiences, I see that it does!

Jackie, I also wondered if I have more than 2 if people will think less.  I've noticed that with the third + babies, people start to make really rude comments.  So what if you just want a large family?!

  • i HATE this!!! i get the whole "its got to be a boy" or "mady needs a brother" comment ALL THE TIME! its annoying. and when they hear it would be nice if a girl comes along so mady can have a sister they get all stupid and say "why if you can have the pair?"

1st of all whatever god gives us is fine by me!!! as long as its healthy who cares??? my grandfather is very old school, he's 80 yrs old, never had a son or boy grandchild so is praying for me to have a boy...although i hate to hurt his feelings it skeeves me every single time! sorry your post pissed me off b/c it happens to me all the time!

This really annoys me!!! DH's family is always asking us how many we plan on having.  Seriously it's NONE of their business b/c they won't be the ones pregnant or paying for my childrens expenses.  DH's cousin this weekend told me that more than 2 was crazy b/c there are only 2 parents.  I'm like OK....what's your point???  This is coming from a guy that said one was more than enough b/c he needed ME time!! UGH

    That's annoying!

The only one who's made comments so far is my mom, but that's b/c she's going to take care of our babies, lol.  So when I mentioned we were considering more than 2, she looked concerned and just commented to please wait until one is in preschool before having the next one.  This I can understand.  But, it's what got me thinking about the comments that people make.

  • DH's step aunt has made several comments to me about BIL already pg w/ #3.  And I'm thinking, dude, your husband has 3 daughters, what's the big deal about having 3 or even 4 children?  Yes, it isn't the norm nowadays, but as long as you have the means and the love to have them, WHO CARES!

Now, if the person is on welfare, medicare, unemployed, and is popping out children left and right while us tax payers are "paying" for them, I can understand the rude comments... otherwise, keep those comments to yourself, thank you very much!

Uggh yes!!! I get this ALL the time!!! And my response is why?!? lol I am perfectly happy with 2 boys and if God wants to give me another boy, then I will gladly accept! :)

  • I agree.  My SIL and BIL are really annoying about that, they have b/g twins and say they got the holy grail of IVF.  I will give them the benefit of the doubt since they had a lot of problems getting pg.  I'm an only child and it was by choice, my parents didn't want any more kids, I STILL get asked if I would have wanted to have a sibling.  Hello - I'm 32 years old, no I'm pretty happy.  And if I choose not to have any more kids, then my daughter will be a happy only child also.

I think people have these expectations of the perfect family and think that it's acceptable to impose their feelings on everyone else !

I have personally experienced this and it is just plain hurtful.  You would not believe the comments thrown my way, people are just extremely rude and insensitive.  I love my family - my children are my world - and perhaps, someday - I would like to have a fourth.  That's my choice, my life.  When people are being insensitive - I call them out on it.  I just went through this last week with a coworker.

Sorry ladies you too are going through this...I think some people have diaharrea of the mouth (giving them the benefit of the doubt).

  • The way I see it - the more kids you have the more to take care of you when you're old ;)
