Babies: 3 - 6 Months

What do you let LO chew on?

When she still can't quite hold toys by herself?  It's great that we have teethers etc, but they are so big and bulky, I feel like I am holding it in her mouth....

  • The first thing DD could hold on to was the rings that hang from her car seat.  She also loves to chew on them. I think they were the first toys to make it to her mouth without me having to help her!

  • Burp Rags.

Lily could grab onto those just fine but not toys.  I made my own burp rags so made small ones for her to chew on (and eww! fabric in the mouth but she loves it) and she still uses them.  My mom also makes some awesome kids' toys with little loops easy enough for her to grab onto and then she's able to get the bulky part to her mouth.

This. I bought DS a set of rings as they were the easiest for him to hold at that age. Now, in the past week or so he's turned into a real Reachy McGrabberson and has successfully pulled toys from the loops on his playgym several times.

  • His first preference is his hands. He also loves to rub cloth on his face and suck on it. He has several of those little stuffed animal heads w/small blankets attached so he almost always has one of those in his hands.

Our LO loves to chew on his burp cloths. He also loves wet washcloths too!

  • DD would chew on a burp cloth all day if i let her,,,,,,,also she has one of those bumpy teethers with the water in it that gerber makes--it is easy for her to hold and she loves even it even when it isn't cold.
