Pregnant after 35

When our kids are old enough to go to Disney World....

DH  & I will be old enough to get the senior discount.  Well, almost.  DH has been wanting to go to Disney World together since we met, I have never gone, nor do I have motivation to do so.  He thinks 8 & 10 will be perfect ages to go, and we'll be in our early 50s then.

The senior discount thing struck me as funny, DH not so much.

Re: When our kids are old enough to go to Disney World....

  • aren't senior discounts for people in their 60s? I've never heard of them being for people in their 50s.
  • Loading the player...
  • I hope you will have also won the lottery by then.  With ticket prices the way they are, and only getting higher, it will be over 10 bucks by then.  Not to mention 10 dollar bottles of water and all the extra goodies.

I live in Florida so we get some decent discounts but still not enough to lure me in.  And even then, I'd only go in the cool weather.

  • That's really funny. We'll be 39 and 46 when this baby gets here - and I think we're planning one more after that. I was thinking this morning - "well, I'm almost 40, and my mom just turned 60 -she still seems fairly young to me. I guess when my last one leaves the house and I'm about 60 it won't be THAT far fetched to think we could still do a cross-country trip on the Harley we can't swing with all these little people in the house."

Can you just see us, 60 and 68 on our Harley? (finally)

Sometimes restaurants give  senior discounts to 55 and older.  I think to be a member of AARP, you have to be 55, which would give you  a senior discount to Disney.

It just made me think about all of the things that we still want to do, we'll just be a little older.   And as for a Harley ride, I live in Milwaukee down the street from a biker bar, I've had enough of Harleys, thanks!  I love the people who ride them, just tired of listening to them.

  • NAH! 4-5 is the perfect age for Disney, at least Magic Kingdom. It is still so magical and 'real' to them at that age. By the time they're 8-10, it won't be 'real', they won't give a hoot about parades and dressed up characters. 8-10 is cool for Epcot but there's still lots of cool, little kid stuff there also. The key with the little ones is take enought time so you can take breaks and not feel like you 'have' to see everything in one day...naps make all the difference!
  • My kids have been twice.  The Magic Kingdom is really for little people, 3 is perfect.  Tell him, if he doesn't want to be a senior, he can take them sooner.
  • I went to Disney a number of times growing up and worked there for two summers during college as part of the college program. While your kids will still enjoy Disney at 8 and 10, I think it's far too long to wait. Disney is truly wonderous and magical at 4/5 years old, and it's the best age for The Magic Kingdom Park. There are many parks that work for 4/5 year olds to enjoy, including Animal Kingdom, Disney Hollywood Studios (the 3-D Muppet movie, Little Mermaid is cool even for boys, and more), the water parks, etc. I totally encourage you to go sooner! My oldest is 4 (other is 2) and I can't wait to go (if my mom will come along to help with the baby that is due in July!)
  • Any age is a great age for Disney! Don't feel like you have to wait.  We're taking DS next month...he will be two months old.  Of course, we live close by and we're annual passholders, so we'll be going a lot on "day trips".  But, I see very young kids there all the time who are just having a blast.  And we went there a lot when it was just the two of us...we'd stay in a hotel, eat the restaurants, go to the parks, and do different fun things around the resort.  There's truly something for all ages!
