Biggest Differences (2nd time moms)

Hi Ladies.  Just found out we are expecting a new addition and I was curious  what some of the differences were between a first pregnancy and those following.  I know that every pregnancy is different, just wondering what some of your experiences were...

Re: Biggest Differences (2nd time moms)

  • Less vomiting than last time, but I start feeling crappy around 8pm.  I also seem to have a better appetite, and less food aversions (but a lot of the same ones, like hamburgers and coffee).

  • The biggest difference for me is the tiredness.  I was tired with my first.  Now, that I have DS-I can't just take a nap...it really wears on me.
  • My first pregnancy was very easy and mild.  I was a little tired, but generally felt ok, just a little under the weather.

This pregnancy is wiping me out!  I am nauseous all the time (feeling a bit better now) and I am SO tired all the time.   But I'm sure that has to do with me chasing DD around!

  • Last time I was nauseated, but never threw up. And it was only from 6-10weeks. This time I was nauseous from before BFP, and started throwing up multiple times a day at 6 weeks. SO bad I had to go on Phenergan this time. And between that crap, working and chasing after DS, this PG is kicking my ASS.

  • I'm not as sick as I was with ds, I seem to have the same food aversion and cravings I had with ds. I'm more tired this time, probably from chasing ds around all day

  • I've had lots more cramping with this one, since the very beginning.  I was very sick with both kiddos, but it seems to be letting up a little already now, whereas with DD, I was throwing up daily til 19 weeks and stayed sick til the end.  The nausea started when I got my BFP with this one, and with DD I felt great til 6 weeks.  And I'm bigger at this point than I was with DD, of course.  :)  Congrats to you!

  • Definitely more tired, but its probably due to having a toddler to chase around this time.  All my nausea is sooo much worse... but thats due to having twins.  Besides that its about the same... same constipation, aches and pains... I also am showing a lot sooner and had to get into maternity clothes at 12 weeks vs 18 weeks with my first pregnancy.
  • My pregnancies were night and day (I had different genders) and with the second, I got tired a LOT more easily.  I gained a lot less too because of chasing around after #1... and lost the baby weight completely (plus more) within 2 weeks, again b/c of chasing around #1.

This. I've been nauseous since a week after my BFP. And I'm already in maternity clothes. Have been since 9 weeks. I not only have a bump but feel my hips getting more wide than last time.

  • My first 2 pregnancies were almost identical except for less weight gain. This time is going about the same.

  • So far things are pretty much the same as with DD, except my tummy is getting bigger a lot quicker. I do go to bed pretty early, but I think I did that with DD in first tri, too.
  • More vomiting this time and i feel like crap a lot more, this kid is kicking my butt.
  • so far it's exactly the same. pretty good

    Me too!!

  • With my first smells really bothered me and I would dry heave.  With my second I felt great, the usual tiredness, etc but no problems.  I have two boys and I was convinced that my second was a girl b/c the pregnancy was so different from my first.

  • Im more tired this time around than the first time but my son is only 5 months old so i cant just lay down and nap like i was able to the first time. I also seem to have more food aversions this time around. And the thing that sucks the most is that im already showing and im not even 3 months yet Crying
  • Pretty much the same this time around except now, I crave "healthiness".  Salads, veggies, fruits, and working out 24/7...WTF?!  It's so weird

This for me as well. I had no m/s with DS, but a lot with this baby.

  • Completly different cravings, way less m/s and way more energy!

  • WOW, some of the responses sound so great!!
My 2nd pregnancy has been soooo different, actually nothing is the same.
My DS was such an easy pregnancy, and this one is very rough. M/S, fatigue, constipation, no appitite. I wish it were as easy as my 1st, that was what I was expecting.
  • So far I feel at least as tired but can't get as much rest because I can't take a day off from being a Mommy to my toddler.  Also I am craving only light things like salads and no sweets.  Very different than the quaterpounder with cheese and mashed potato cravings of my first.
