can milk crust in the nipples?

okay so i probably don't even need to TMI this post but i just got out of the shower and noticed that the tips of my nipples had these little tiny white spots on them. so being me, i investigated and they seemed like they were bits of something almost embedded in the nipple tissue. i scratched a little and some of them came loose like a little soft white ball.

wtf.

and yes i have been leaking off and on - but is this normal? is there something self-care-wise i should be doing that i'm not? cuz it kinda grossed me out.. :-(

thoughts?? the area isn't sore or inflamed or any of that so it doesn't seem like an infection??

Completely normal. It's colostrum. I had the exact same thing. It's just leaking slightly and drying on/in your nipple. I usually just removed it and left them alone. It happened to me through the last 2 months or so of my pregnancy.

Totally normal. Mine was more of a yellowish colostrum color. I never noticed any leaking, only the crusties.

yeah its just colostrum and it gets dried up. give them a gentle scrub with warm water and a soft cloth when you shower and it should take care of it once you are nursing you'll want to be sure to do that as well.

thank GOD this is normal (though still icky) - i was so concerned/grossed out when i realized they came off and it wasn't just some other weird breast/nipple color change or whatever.. lol.. it actually bothered me way more than actually leaking does for whatever reason!
