NTR: Does your DH like your hair color?

My DH really likes dark hair--and I've pretty much always been blond since I've met him.  Maybe different shades of blond (some not so pretty)--but mainly always blond.  A couple of times I went darker (like a light brown) and didn't feel I looked good in it so went back blond (which is tough to do to my hair).

Well, now I'm thinking maybe I've gone too blond and should try to go darker (thinking Jennifer Aniston type color).

But it made me wonder---does anyone else's DH wish that you were a different hair color?  He tells me I should go dark often, but obviously supports whatever I want.  I just know he likes dark a lot.

Newest pic in siggy--am I too blond????  My roots are really showing and I feel like trash.

Re: NTR: Does your DH like your hair color?

  • I have naturally dark hair, fairly olive tone skin, and really dark eyebrows, so going light with my hair color has never really been an option for me.  DH likes me the way I am, I think.  :)

As far as other people, I tend do think that someones' natural color usually looks best.  Maybe you didn't like it darker because you're so used to being blond?  Give it awhile the next time and see if it grows on you.

That being said, I think you should go with what makes you feel good about yourself.  Obviously your DH loves you as a blond since he married you that way, so he'll be happy either way.

  • I think it depends on what you like and what you're comfortable with. I've highlighted my hair for several years, and lately my stylist and I both agreed that it was getting too blond and too ashy. So she went warmer with the highlights and added some lowlights, too. I like it a lot. As far as DH, I don't think I've ever asked his opinion on my hair color. OK, I just asked him, he says yes, he likes it.
  • Dh likes me blonde... I've gone darker but he hasn't really been a fan.

  • I go between dark, which would be my natural color, to highlighted, to pretty much blonde all over because of all of the highlights.  DH likes them all :)  I think I look better when it is brown with highlights.
  • I think you'd look really good in like a darker auburn.  I think with naturally dark hair like yours it's hard to get a natural looking blond.

DH doesn't mind the hair color- he's just not a fan when I get mine cut really short, etc. He'd rather have me with about shoulder length hair.

  • I have a grey streak ala Stacy London (although mine is much thicker). DH loves it so much he asked me to stop dying my hair to cover it. Now I get more compliments about my hair color than ever. I have brown hair through the rest and my streak is the only place I have grey.
  • I am a fan staying close to your original color, with highlights if you want to lighten it up or a shade darker is nice too but if you go to one extreme it just doesnt look right. IMO anyway. I have never dyed my hair but will if it starts getting darker (which I keep expecting to happen since both my parents blond hair turned darker but so far it has stayed pretty light!). I still wouldnt go too light blond though, even as a natural blond I dont think bleach blond looks good on anyone but kids who come by in naturally.

FWIW I love dark hair, its very sultry :o)

ETA: I forgot to add that yes DH likes my hair color, but he's never had any options lol

  • I have natural darker blonde hair. For the last year or two I was doing highlights and lowlights. After DS was born it became too much work, so I went medium brown. I've been wanting to be a brunette since forever (I'm the only blonde in my family...no I'm not the milkman's, mailman's or the plumbper's baby). DH likes the blonde hair, but I'm loving the brunette.

This!  DH doesn't seem to care much about what color my hair is, but is very picky about the style.  I've been wanting to cut it off since DD was born, but he's adamant about me keeping it long.  He doesn't ask for much from me, so I am keeping it long Smile

  • DH has always liked girls with dark hair. Mine is naturally a light brown.  However, he likes me pretty blonde.  I'm not up for the work or expense so I don't really do it.  So I guess he doesn't like my hair color.
  • I've never colored mine. The only thing DH doesn't like is that I chopped my very long hair off 2mos after we got married and every time I say I'm growing it again I get it chopped.

Now my DH is the opposite. He loves me with shorter hair. Not super short but about chin length. It grew pretty long when I was pregnant and he wasn't digging it but he never complained. When I donated it to charity he couldn't wait for it to grow into a bob. Its nearing my shoulders again as I will probably grow it long enough to donate once more.
