Car Seat Inspection?

We are installing our car seat soon and I was wondering who in SA provides inspections or clinics. I've googled it and came up with no info.

TIA!

Re: Car Seat Inspection?

  • Call the hospital you're delivering at. I'm pretty sure all hospitals have child passenger safety technicians on staff that check seats before patients leave the hospital. They should be able to help with your installation.

FWIW, the hospital won't let you leave w/o a car seat that fits the baby and is installed correctly.

Actually, I delivered at NCBH and the nurse said they're not allowed to touch the carseat. She just made sure we had one.

well in that case I would DEFINITELY make sure you call somewhere that has child passenger safety technicians on staff that can make sure your safety seat is installed correctly. 90% of child seats are installed improperly, making them basically ineffective.

It might be that the NURSE couldn't do anything because she wasn't certified, but that the hospital does have people on staff who are certified/qualified to work with car seats. it might be a liability issue for the hospital for the nurses to do anything with the car seats.
