s/o smash cakes...I need opinions!

Just a diaper, or onesie?

I made an extra onesie with the intentions of it getting ruined and needing to be thrown away. I don't have a decorative diaper cover, and don't seem to think that just a diaper would be as cute.

Dd will be wearing a tutu to her birthday party, but I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to get the cake out of it, if I used it for these pictures.

What do you all think?

Re: s/o smash cakes...I need opinions!

  • DS's party is a rock star theme, and for most of it he'll just be wearing a cute outfit...but for the smash cake I had a t-shirt made that says "Being one rocks!" in AC/DC type font.  I didn't want to ruin a good outfit, but I didn't want him to be in just a diaper.

I say change her into the onesie for the smash cake pics, then clean her off and put her back in her cute outfit for the rest of the party (unless the cake is at the very end, obviously).

  • We're doing just a diaper, but he'll be wearing a cloth diaper cover as well.

  • We left DS in his clothes and just used a bib.  BUT, DS also ate his cake with a fork and only got icing on his hands and around his mouth. He doesn't like mushy textures on his hands.

We haven't done it yet, but this is what we plan on doing (and what I suspect DS will do).

Side note - Brideofscowboy, I'm so happy you still post here and let us see Reid, he's so so so big!!!

    Aww thanks! Smile

I was honestly starting to think that I should let go of 6-12 and try to stay on my own board.

  • I say use the onesie. It'll look better in pics.

We'll use a pair of bloomers with or without a tutu- I've made a bunch for pics, so it's easy for me to make one for her pics. That's just for her pic session, though- we'll have her in her outfit and a birthday bib at cake time at her party. And a special birthday hat for both.

That is the cutest outfit ever!! Did you make it? I can't wait to have a little girl and have her wear things like that!!!

To OP: I would just do a diaper. Or a diaper cover. I dont really like the looks of sposies personally, but for this occasion it should be fine. Its only going to be for a few minutes and then get her dressed back in her cute outfit.
