I got my + on 4/30...called the Dr on 5/2 and my 1st appt is 5/28...I'll be 7 weeks 3 days. They originally had me in for 6/2 but DH couldn't make that appt so I had to change it
I should explain a little further I had a +hpt on 5/13 and my first appt isn't until 5/21. Is that a normal length of time or does it just depend on the availability of the doctor? I too excited to wait a full week!

Yeah, I tested positive 3/29 and had my appt on 4/23.
My normal OB sees people for their first appt at 8 weeks.
If you're seeing an RE or you are high risk for some reason you'd most likely go in earlier. When you see people talking about their betas, this is generally why.
I got a BFP on 10/7/09, my first OB appt was 11/4/2009, I was 8 weeks when I went to my first appt. They usually take you when you're between 7-10 weeks
I was (and still am) seeing an RE so it is a little different than just a regular OB. I'm seeing him the first time since my +HPT on Monday, at 7 weeks. With #1 and regular OB it was 10 weeks.
Well, seeing that some of you waited almost a month I will not complain about a week. Just really excited and we aren't telling anyone until that first appt.

I didn't tell anyone for almost 3 weeks after the first appt.
oh wow. so you all had to wait awhile. Did they do an ultrasound at that appointment?
No, probably not. Usually the only ultrasound they do is between 18-20 weeks.
Depending on how far along you will be at your appointment, you may not even get to hear the heartbeat. With my first DD, they tried at 10 weeks to find the heartbeat, but it was still to early. I went in a couple weeks later and they found it.

I am a master secret keeper. And very private. I don't enjoy the process of telling people I am pregnant. People are so invasive and unintentially annoying to me.
I had an u/s at my first appt to date me. I think I get one every month, according to the OB's office. That could be due to my insurance though.
brymanda - I know you are super excited, but this will be a LONG 40+ weeks! You are really lucky to only have to wait a week, especially if you have no complications.
Some docs do early ultrasounds, some wait. It depends on the practice, if they have their own U/S machine and your insurance. Realize that the earlier you get an ultrasound, the more likely you are to have the dildo cam instead of the tummy one you see on TV.
I see the nurse for my 1st appt two weeks from calling, and I'll see the doctor the week after that.

I got my BFP on 5/5 and I go to the doc on 5/18... I will be 5 weeks 4 days. I will go for an u/s at around 7 weeks and see the doc every two weeks for at least the first trimester (barring no complications), due to the fact that I've had a miscarriage and that is their standard procedure.
I also found out when I was 10dpo. I haven't seen the doctor yet, but I have had betas and progesterone. I had a previous miscarriage so that is why I had the betas drawn. My first appointment is June 7 and I will be between 7 and 8 weeks.
Positive test about 3-4 days before my period was due. I called a few days later and was scheduled for an ultrasound at 8 weeks and first appointment at 10 weeks. The ultrasound was to date the pregnancy and I assume make sure I actually WAS pregnant. First appointment was a lot like a regular gyn checkup, along with full medical history, answer any questions I had and general guidelines for the pregnancy.
I will be 6+2 if I still use this doctor. I found out at 4+3. I am fighting with the insurance right now to get my midwife covered again...she takes United, and all of sudden, my list of covered midwifes does not cover her. So hopefully we will get that figured out before 5/24 (appt set right now with OB in town). If not, I will go to that, and then work from there.
And ditto to the dildo cam comment...the earlier you get u/s the more likely you will get that type.

We found out March 8, had our "history check" at 8-10. Heard heartbeat and luckily got an ultrasound at 12. Will go back at 16 and find out the gender at 20!
Thank you for all your input. I will be almost 6 weeks when I go for my first appointment in 5/21. It will definitely be a long 40 weeks since I found out so early.

Same here. This is also the reason I am waiting to even make the call this time around
