2nd Trimester

BH Contractions

Any of you know you have had them?  What they feel like?

I am COMPLETELY cramped right now, like menstrual cramps.  Abdomen is real tight but I can still breathe and function.

And as I finish writing this they have gone away.  I am assuming that is what they are.

  • Thanks : )  It is so hard to find out what is going on in your body when they affect everyone so differently!!

  • had them for the first time over mother's day and made an appt the following day with the dr just to make sure.  this is my first pregnancy and i was concerned and nervous thought it was way to early to feel any.  my dr reassured me all was fine and checked my cervix just to make sure it was still ok and gave me a few simple rules:

    1. if you have more than 4 or 5 in an hour call

    2. if they become very painful call

    3. if there is any spotting or discharge change with them call

    4. drink a few glasses of water and put my feet up for awhile when they begin.

for me personally they feel like the menstrual cramps i would have on my two heaviest days.  hope this helps :)

  • sounds like them! BH aren't timeable and not regular either. I had them a lot with my daughter. The biggest thing was counting them to make sure I wasn't having too many in an hour.  My doctor would say drink a big glass of water then lay down on your side for an hour. Count them again, then if I was still having more than 4 to call.  I would just ask your doc at your next appt. to see what their protocol is :-)
  • That sounds like exactly what it is. I've noticed one time so far with this pg, which was a bit earlier than I expected to notice it (several days ago). However, I didn't feel it from inside - I only noticed because I touched my abdomen and could feel that it was tight there. With Harris I noticed them about 16 weeks. With my first I noticed them around 20 weeks.
