It's not safe to use the microwave to heat up a bottle. I don't have a warmer. I just fill a cup with hot water and put the bottle in there. It takes about 2 minutes to heat up.

I have a bottle warmer I never use. It gets the milk too hot. I also just microwave water in a cup for one minute and then but the bottle in the cup of water for 2 minutes to heat up, works perfect--and I learned it from the NICU nurses, so it's got to be good!
I use Avent bottles which are really thick so sitting them in a cup doesn't warm formula up. I love my bottle warmer. We have the Avent one and it works great. We used it all the time to heat up DD bottles and now are using it for DS. It gets the milk to the perfect temperature and it is fast. DD got so spoiled by using it she would not drink her bottles if they weren't perfectly warmed. It made it hard when we weren't at home.
I have one. Well, two actually. One in the kitchen and one in the bedroom (for middle of the night feedings). I have the First Years Day and Night warmer. I love it. It's super quick and easy to use. It always gets the bottles the right temperature.
I didn't have one with ds but got one this time around and love it. We use born free bottles which are also thick as pp mentioned so maybe that's why I like it so much.
