Another idea for baby Ella

This is early in mentioning this, however I just wanted to put it out there.  Everyone that I've known that has had leukemia has always needed blood donations.  That's something else we could think about, maybe organize a blood drive or something, maybe individually donate.

    We could make a badge/button thing and have it in our siggies so that others on the national boards will see them and may feel inspired to donate blood as well.  Good idea, Casie!

    If it came to that, that is a nice idea...hoping it doesn't come to that though :)  But I'd be all about helping organize one.  Unfortunately I can't donate because I am anemic :(

     Also, I know that it's too early really to think about it and hopefully it won't come to this, but I mentioned to Rachel that if we did want to plan a drive we could do a bone marrow donor drive in Ella's honor.

    There is such a shortage of donors out there for marrow. It is something that could help a lot of people because the donors who sign up go on a national registry and could possibly get matched up with people from across the nation who are depending on a marrow transplant. There was a similar drive in Tuscaloosa recently as part of the National Marrow Donor program. Check out www.marrow.org.

     Also.. for you pregnant ladies, the National Marrow Donor program also takes cord blood donations. How I wish I had done this with Kennedy: https://www.marrow.org/HELP/Donate_Cord_Blood_Share_Life/index.html

    And ditto what Lydia said about donating cord blood.  We donated James' and I am so glad we did!
