Does anyone have a recommendation for a prenatal yoga DVD? I've found some classes in my area (Austin), but they only offer prenatal on Sundays, which doesn't help me all that much - I'd like to go several times a week.
I've posted this caution before and will say again: If you are new to Yoga, you should consider going to a class, at least a few times. Posture is very important in Yoga, especially when you are pregnant. I can't tell you how many times I have had to leave my mat and correct people's posture, repeatedly, over the course of a class.
If you do choose to use only a DVD, I would recommend Shiva Rae - I study with a friend/protoge of hers and know that she will lead you in the right direction. Please pay attention to your posture, making sure that your knee never extends past your ankle, that you don't round out your back, never extend farther than you feel is 100% comfortable. If you don't know your body's limits ahead of time, you may find that the relaxin enables you to stretch more than you should. I have been practicing for 7 years and am now finding that my body's limits are much different than they have ever been. Yoga is a fantastic way to begin preparing your body for childbirth, as long as you are safe. Namaste
