If you have picked out your LOs name!

Reading some of the comments on the name post that caused some drama, made me wonder when everyone chose their names and how many times you changed it. Not trying to cause any drama or anything, I am seriously just wondering. I think I am in the minority... we had our names picked out by the time I was 11wks (for both a boy and girl). We stuck with our name and haven't changed it or even thought about changing them since.

Re: If you have picked out your LOs name!

  • We had a girl named picked out from the beginning. It was the name we would have named DS, if he had been a girl. Boy name....we had no idea, we couldn't agree on anything.

We had our girl name picked before we were even trying for children.  The boy name took forever to agree on but once selected we never changed it.  We selected the boy name around 26 or 27 weeks.

We picked out names early as well.  Never changed her first name but did change her middle name.  Her name is Kayla Elizabeth it was formerly Kayla Nicole but MIL wanted to call her Nikki and I couldn't live with that.  Despite my efforts to get her to stop calling her that she wouldn't so DH and I just changed it.  She got the hint and now refers to her as Kayla.

  • with DD1 we had the name picked from the get-go.  With DD2 we had two names but one just stuck and we preferred it and that was that.  No changing.
  • We've had our boys name picked out for a while - girls name was picked by the time I was 15 weeks. We haven't changed our mind on either name.
  • We had our first names picked but the middle name ended up being a total headache!!!!!

  • We've had DS's name picked out since I was pg w/DD.  When we got pg again, we still liked the boy name, so that made it easy.

We had ours picked out before we were pregnant.  We just sat around one day and decided on a boy and girl name.  We never changed our mind.

  • although ive considered other names many many times - we've been set on this boys name since the last time we were pg. :)
  • First time around we picked DD's name immediately...this time we waited until the big u/s just because we would get in a fight every time we discussed boy names...girl names are way easier...if we were having a boy i'm not sure we'd have a name yet! We never changed once we decided on a name.
  • We had our girl name picked out from the beginning.  We were always on the hunt for a boy name.  After we were confirmed team blue at 20 weeks we kicked up decision process for our little man.  We both fell in love and never changed the name.

  • I had my girl name picked out very soon .. like round the 12th week but her middle name took forever cuz I wanted it to "flow" and her name is different so the middle name wasnt n place till I was round 24 weeks. The boy name changed about 5 times.

But my LO is a little girl so it worked out great : Blair Elaine

  • With DD we had picked a boy name right away and had a few candidates for girl names.  We didn't settle on a name until she was born - DH saw her and agreed to my favorite name.

With DS we're using the boy name we'd picked for DD.  We could not agree on a girl name.

  • We had several boy names picked out early, then narrowed it down and decided for sure the day we found out it's definitely a boy.  We never came to a decision on a girl name, so we're praying that he doesn't come out a girl!! Stick out tongue

  • We actually picked out LO's name while we were engaged! And then after we were married and became pregnant, it just stuck and we never once considered changing it!

  • We have had our names picked out since before we got married. We changed our mind on the middle name for this LO, but that's just because FIL's name is Ken and we thought we would incorporate that somehow since we would have been honoring my Dad if we had a boy.

  • With DS, we had his name picked out before we knew he was a boy and never changed it.  With this baby, we had a girl name picked out (or a few variations of it) but were stuck on a boys name.  We didn't finalize our boys name until I was around 21 weeks or so.  I love the name we choose, so I don't plan on changing it anytime soon.  And DS knows his brothers name now too, so I really don't want to confuse him and change it.

  • Once I found the name Annalise for DD, we were set. Before that we were throwing around a lot of options. (Well, I was. DH just vetoed everything.) Nothing felt right until I saw the name Annalise.

We have a boy's name picked out from the first time because it's the only one we both liked. Alexander. No middle name, but we don't really have to worry about that until or if we have a #3.

This time we've been talking about Elizabeth (on our list the first time) and Allison. I was pretty set on Elizabeth for a while but kept looking. Now I really feel like Charlotte is "it". Annalise loves it too. DH thinks it's too old fashioned, and he hates the nickname Char. So we're working on him. I kind of feel like once you find the right name, you just know.

  • We had our girl name picked out from the beginning - probably 10 weeks or so.  We hadn't agreed on a boys name though which made me really think it was going to be a boy LOL. But luckily she turned out to be a girl and we didn't have to worry about it being a boy :)  We've haven't changed the name at all since we decided on it.

  • We've had our names picked out since the beginning as well.  Neither of us have even thought for a second of changing either.
  • We had 2 names from day one and are going with one of the two.
  • We had a boy and a girl name picked out when we were still engaged.   When we found out we were having a girl we named her Dallas Elizabeth.  A few weeks later, we changed the spelling to Dallis (we didn't want her going through life with it being pronounced Dal-Ass).  We think the -is ending makes it a little more girly.  And then we changed her middle name to Ann.  I have two great-grandmothers and one great-aunt who's name is Ann.  So, we kept the same first name and changed the spelling and then just changed the middle name.

  • We had names picked out YEARS ago! LOL. I loved one name for a boy and one name for a girl. I told DH he could pick middle names for both (and he did) and when/if we have another baby he can pick the first name(s) and I can pick middle.
  • We had our girl name picked out years ago.  Before we were even engaged (we've been together over 11 years now, only married 2).  Honestly, if we hadn't picked it out so long ago (and agreed so easily) we probably would not choose the name now since it is officially #1 in the country.... (ugh)

Boys names we really struggled with, but I was determined to have at least a near decision by our big u/s.  We did eventually pick one, and DH even said he still wants to use it if our next baby is a boy!  I didn't know he liked it that much!

My theory on it was once we decided, we weren't changing.  We are both too opinionated so it was easier to say to people "the name IS ---" rather than "we're considering...".  I also didn't want to hear other people's opinions on the matter. =)

I've had my boy name picked for years; luckily DH liked it too and we've stuck with it.  We couldn't even get close on a girl name, so we're lucky that LO is a boy!

  • We had a list of names we liked, found out it's a boy, and picked one we loved! Haven't changed our minds...or even wavered. Henry Arthur is what we picked and who he'll be. :)

  • We like traditional names....  it was between Madelyn and Abigail.  We chose Madelyn.    We chose Kay as the middle name because that is my middle name, and my mother's middle name.

Kay was never a question, but it took us quite awhile to decide on Madelyn. In fact, it was only about a month ago that we officially decided.

  • DH and I talked about names before I got pregnant.  He said I could name LO, but he had the right to veto any name he didn't like.

Once we found out I was pregnant we decided on names for a boy and girl.  Then when we found out it was a boy we stuck with the name we chose.  I haven't had any doubts about it and both DH and I love the name.

We don't know anyone who is name the name or anyone whose child is named that.

All our family really likes the name, even if they didn't we wouldn't change it.  People always ask what we're naming him and I don't have a problem saying.  If they don't like, that's their opinion, it's our baby not there's.

I have a friend who's 7 weeks behind me and they aren't telling the name and then another friend who's 4 weeks behind me and says they haven't decided on a name, but I don't know if I believe them or not, I think they just don't want to tell anyone to prevent getting any negative comments.  Whatever though, to each his/her own!

  • We discussed names from the very beginning but decided to wait until my 18 week appt. when we would find out if LO was a boy or girl before we "picked" names.  Once we found out we are having a boy, we decided on his name within about 2 weeks, so 20 weeks I guess.  We have not changed it at all.
