Dh OOT - in law vent

DH is OOT for the wkend, starting now.  He goes away w/ the boys prob 2x a year, so I'm "used" to staying alone.  Yeah, sometimes it gets scary, and I'm not a huge fan of it, but I deal w/ it... I'm a grown woman!

Anyway, first thing DH says when he gets home "my dad says for you and SIL to go sleep at their house."  Hm no, why would I do that?  I'm most comfortable in my own home and bed!  Then MIL passes by and tells me I HAVE to sleep at her house over the weekend.  Excuse me?  If I stay away from home, it will be at my parents house, let's start w/ that.

Then I asked "why would I stay away from home, if I always stay here alone?"  She says "now that you are pg, I should be alone."  Yeah, um, I am no where near delivery!  And I promise if God forbid something is wrong, I'll prob call some ASAP!  I won't just drive myself to the hospital.  LOL

::sigh::  I know they care about me, but dude, I'm not 15 yrs old!

  • DH's parents do the same thing when he is OOT. I feel the same way if I were to stay somewhere else I would stay at my parents house where I am going to be more comfortable. I guess they are just trying to make sure you are ok and can call on them if you need them.

  • LMAO Jackie. Families worry mija but it doesn't matter if we are 10 or 40 years old, they will still be the same. I always remind myself that at least they care right? :P
  • I guess!  Then I stated explaining to MIL why I didn't want to go over (if I am sick I don't like people asking "need anything? how you feel?"  I just want to be left alone.  I said it politely, and emphasized that I appreciate the gestures from her and anyone taking care of me, but I like to be alone!  Dh got all offended, and called me out on it in front of MIL!   GGGRRRR.  Luckily MIL understood what I meant, even though I may have sounded rude in hindsight.  LOL

  • Don't worry about it. I'm sure they didn't lose any sleep over it. Stick out tongue You stay where you feel most comfortable and just let them know you appreciate their kindness. Maybe in one of those days, call and throw in a special craving request. hahahahaha j/k
  • I did say I'd go have breakfast w/ them Sunday AM.  And maybe I'll pass by for dinner tonight... MAYBE, if they have pizza... so there goes the craving request LOL

Oh course not!  You just want to make sure others know you appreciate them.  : )

  • you should stay home if you are comfortable at home! i was home alone throughout my entire pregnancy! DH only stopped traveling a month before my due date!
  • yeah, that's a little weird.  I mean, it's nice that they care, but still.
  • You're too nice.  I would have told the old lady that I wanted to stay home so that my lover could come over!

Oh, I like it!  If they ask again, I'll say this.  LOL

  • You definetly have to stay wherever you feel most comfortable. But you know how the "older folks" are, they worry way too much.

    Have a great weekend :)

  • Don't stress it!

If it were my DH, it would be MY parents not wanting me to stay home alone.  They also don't like when I've had to travel to conference without DH.  I always figure the less they know the better, lol.  But, in this case, I would tell them that you appreciate their offer, but you prefer to stay at home.

Yeah, they probably just think they're being nice and don't realize how annoying it is. Just make sure they know that you feel comfortable at your own house and that you'll call if you need anything :)
