Babies: 9 - 12 Months

tantrums at 10 months! eep!

My little girl has always been *perfectly* behaved. We get comments constantly from people saying how calm and relaxed she is..

Until this week... tantrum central! She tightens up her body and wants to get down or be picked up, wails, turns red, etc. usually in response to being denied something like touching something dangerous or wanting my cell phone, etc.

I guess the only thing to do is distract her? You can't exactly teach or discipline at 10 months..  sigh.. any one else??

  • Yes, we call DD a little drama queen.  She will arch her back, stiffen up, or put her head on the floor and cry when she wants something or we put her down when she wants to be held.  (And she has always been a very sweet "well behaved" LO)  Yes, the best thing to do is just distract them.  But we do tell her "no" when she feeds her food to the dogs or takes things away from DS.  Thats about as far as we go with discipline at this point.  And of course when we tell her "no" her lip curls up and she puts on quite a dramatic crying show like we just really hurt her feelings.

DS knows when I say "no" in a low strick tone that he is doing (or touching) somthing he is not suppose to and he will normally stop what he is doing. (Although he forgets and does it again 5 min later)

Yes, that would be Lauryn.  She does this everytime I have to put her jacket on.  She sits there and whines and arches her back.  She will be a pleasure when she has full blown tempter tantrums.

  • DD has started to do this.  What do I do?  I need super nanny.  I hate having the whiney kid.
