All you tattoo experts....come on in!

image

So here's DB's tattoo.  He e-mailed me a pic of it to tell me that it says "actions speak louder than words" and to tell me that I am not in his life and he doesn't care about me and everything is my fault, blah, blah, blah.

Anyhoo, in the spirit of "actions speaking louder than words" how much does everyone think this would cost-roughly?  A pack of diapers?  A few sets of new pajamas that DS needs badly?  Interesting considering that our actions speak louder than our words....so what does it say about a father who would rather get a tattoo than pay child support for his son?

  • No expert, but around here there is a $50 minimum reguardless of how small it is. I'm sure that would have bought 2 boxes of diapers!

  • Around here they have $80 minimums. Something like that would be higher than the minimum. That would prob cost at least $150 around here.  That is a guess though!  Definitely more than a couple packs of diapers!

This. Most (reputable) places have minimums around $80. I would guess probably around $100-$150, but with a tip, I'd say  $150-$200. It all really depends on the artist and how long it took. Something that simple I'd say took an experienced artist an hour, tops... inexperienced maybe 1.5 hours at the very most.

I know what you mean, though. My X is TERRIBLE about managing money. He hasn't missed any CS payments but he is constantly talking to me about how excited for pay day he is or how he has to borrow money from his parents. And then he goes and buys the stupidest things! He buys a lot of small things that add up pretty quick.

ETA: Is that down the side of his stomach or something? I just realized that is probably a little bigger than I originally thought. But what I said still stands. And the meaning behind it is pretty ironic. Like LOL worthy. It's sad that this is the life he leads and he's either "seeing the light" or has himself fooled pretty bad! My guess is the latter.

  • Hehe I just like that you called him DB. He lives up to the title of DB yet again. I say easy $200

  • Actions speak louder than words?  Yeah they do...

It would be really hard for me to restrain myself on that one.

  • I'm going to say that tattoo cost between $100-$150 by the size. But there's no color, so it might be less. Either way, it's money he could have spent on his son.
  • I have 2 chinese symbols on my neck (mean inner strength) - took maybe 15 minutes - black and shaded pink - cost me around $96 and that was with a discount

what a tool! it'd be funny if it meant "im a db" instead haha

  • Wow our ex's are so much alike. Mine got this horrid tribal thing on his arm, but was to big of a biotch to get it finished. So he has this ugly outline thing on his upper arm and refers to it as his half sleeve lol. It is sad how they think though.

Haha!  We were joking about it at work that it probably said something like "squeal like a pig" or what you suggested!

Yah, I am not sure where it is located-maybe I don't want to know?  I sent him this e-mail back because I couldn't restrain myself:

"That's really great Douchebag (I said his name in the actual e-mail)-too bad my point was lost on you.  What I meant was, how ironic is it that you got a tattoo like that when you fail to back up ANYTHING you say. Here's an example: you say you have no money to give for support for your son, yet you send your ex-wife a picture of your NEW tattoo.  How much did that cost?  Probably the equivalent of a box or two of diapers, or a few sets of pajamas which he badly needs.  You claim to be the "hardest working person around" yet you can't provide for your child.  I actually can't think of a saying that is more ill-suited to who you really are, but hey, if it helps to remind you that you need to "practice what you preach" then that's fantastic-whatever does the trick for you."

  • Depending on the shop, if it's reputable than anywhere from $50- $70 minimum. yeah he's got some good priorities.
  • Most of my work was done right after Hurricane Katrina, so the artists were just glad to get work. That being said, I know the places I frequent won't work on you for less than $75, and the simple band of black text around my ankle cost over $180 + tip (whereas the three-color Muppet on my back cost $140. Go figure). I'm willing to bet that unless he had a friend do it in his kitchen, it was at least $90.

Edited to Add: Does part of the tattooed area look bruised? Or is that just my screen?
