7th Generation vs. Earth's Best?

I've decided that I'm simply not going to have the time nor the patience to wash cloth diapers. However, I would like to choose an earth friendly, unbleached, disposable diaper.

Unfortunately, a lot of retailers don't stock 7th generation. So I would like to find out people's opinions on these before I start a BRU registry since they are they only ones who seem to carry them.

Re: 7th Generation vs. Earth's Best?

  • Everyone I know who tried 7th Gen. has said they fall apart/have blowouts like crazy. I hear nothing but great things about Earth's Best! (I have been asking all of my mommy & daddy friends bc I, too, am researching!) GL!

  • P.S. I have also hear gDiapers are great. The best of both worlds, combined!

Thanks for the feedback, I think I'll go with Earth's Best instead. The thing that worries me about gDiapers is the liner leaking and then having to wash the cloth outside. It ends up being pretty much the "cloth diaper". Maybe I'm being too fussy, I'll have to check one of these gdiapers out in person to see how they work.

    BBB carries 7th Generation

    Hi fellow Jersey girl :)

We've decided to split our registry between BRU and Wallmart. BBB was out of our price league.

  • I loved 7th generation when we used disposables. I bought them from amazon - you can get a nice discount if you sign up for scheduled deliveries and they ship for free.

  • I just purchased 7th Generation diapers at Fred Meyer (Kroger) this week becuase they are half off. Plus they had $1 off coupons next to the display. So, for $5.50 a pack, I think it's a screaming deal and I'm actually going back tomorrow to buy more.

A friend is a neonatal nurse and she says a lot of other nurses she works with say they are great diapers! But, if I end up hating them I donate them for that price.

I use cloth - but when we travel I use nature babycare.  BRU has them, or you can order on diapers.com.  They are biodegradable and AWESOME.  Seriously really good leak protection and never any blowout issues.  Also same price as pampers or huggies.

Sorry thought I would throw that out there. :)

  • I just wanted to throw out there that I wasn't going to do cloth diapers if I had to wash them but a diaper service is very affordable--equivalent to buying disposables.  It's $80 a month where I am.  I don't know if that's a possibility for you.
  • I know researching all this stuff can make you crazy... but just so you know, I have read several studies in which they prove that these 'earth friendly' diapers are NO better for the environment than regular diapers, nor are they necessarily better for the baby that many regular diapers. Not to mention that they are usually 1.5-2 times the price.

     Just food for thought.

  • I hated 7th gen, but loved earth best diapers. I have been using a brand called full circle that is sold in grocery stores near me. It is an earth friendly brand and works really really well. They are cheap too, maybe google and see if they are sold near you.

These are the disposables we're planning to supplement with when we don't use CDs.  I've heard really great things about them.  Oh, and we found a diaper service that is just $13/week.  GL!

you're right on with the gdiapers...they were SUPER annoying...the liner leaks every time which means you are washing something AND disposing of something...it totally did not work how it was supposed to and you pretty much may as well be using a cloth diaper and avoiding the whole toilet swishing crap that's necessary for these as well...

I can't believe I don't have any of these retailers in Jersey!

I read that too somewhere. Also, my friend uses Seventh Generation Diapers and she is very happy with it. They carry them at the grocery store down here in South Florida.

I've done a TON of research on diapers and knocked 7th Gen and G diapers off my list becuase they still contain the absorbant gel.  I narrowed it down to Tushies and Nature Babycare.  Both are made of natural products, contain no dyes or perfumes, are chemical free and chlorine free.  I decided on Nature Babycare because they are compostable (Tushies are not).

I'm planning on ordering mine from either Amazon or Diapers.com

this. Plus I avoid BRU as much as possible. Not to discourage you, but remember that the diaper you decide on doesn't always work well for LO, and you may need to switch. GL!

When we use disposables, we use Earth's Best.  We used 7th Generation in the past and don't really have a reason for switching except that I like the look of the white diaper better.

I have to say though that the time required to wash cloth diapers and the patience needed are extremely minimal.  I am not domestic in the slightest and work full time long hours and still manage to do it with no problem.  We have a big enough stash at this point that I do diapers every 4 days.  Honestly, it is a bigger effort for us to get to the store to get her whole milk (where we would also be getting her disposables) than it is to wash the diapers.  Still, no pressure from me.  Just wanted to let you know that this very non-domesticated mom thinks cloth diapers are really easy.

So after all that, I registered for a pack of each: 7th generation, earth's best, nature's babycare and huggies pure & natural. Once I find one that I like, I'll just have to splurge on the rest myself.

It looks like they may be discontinuing Nature's Babycare at BRU. After scanning them to my registry they showed up as N/A on the list :(
