Friend just put on BR, what can I do?

My good friend is due 8/18 and just went to her monthly exam yesterday where she found out she is dilated, her Dr. put her on bedrest so she had to cancel her baby shower in our home town at the end of this month since traveling from her home is AZ to OH is out of the question.

I told her about this board but I don't know if she'll come over. She is normally very active doing yoga and runs everyday, this is going to be hard for her. I had a normal pregnancy/labor so I am kinda clueless.

What can I do, say, send (baby gifts or wait on that?) any thoughts are appreciated!

Maybe send her a care package filled with things to occupy her time. Such as books, magazines, and stuff like that.

This! I would also be as supportive as you can and just remind her that it is the best thing for her LO and though it is super hard it is soooo worth it.

I'm a fairly social person, so I'm gonna go with go visit! I had a friend stop by the other day and we sat and talked for 3.5 hours. It was awesome and made the day absolutely fly.

If you live near by bring a dish of food for her & her DH!!!!!! ?That was the best thing someone did for me. ?If you don't live near her you can give gift certificates to local places that deliver or do take out.

Also, she's going to be on BR for a LONG time so don't forget about her as time goes by. ?I had so much support the 1st few weeks & now 8 weeks later everyone has forgotten about me. ?I have major cabin fever and now is when I wish people were here for me. ?Even a 15 minute visit or phone call means so much & really helps break up the day.?

If you really want to go the extra mile & live near by you can help out around the house (getting baby stuff in order or cleaning)?

This just happened to me - I was put on bedrest Monday and will miss my shower this Sunday (4 hr drive). Yesterday by chance I got a shower gift in the mail from someone who wasn't going to be able to make it to the shower and it brightened up my whole day. I haven't even opened it yet - I just keep looking over at the pretty wrapping and it makes me happy. (I am going to open it on Sunday : ) My mother will bring up all of the gifts next week but just having that one to look at has made me really happy and reminded me that I'm laying here in bed for the baby. : )

I'm new to bedrest but so far I'd say call/email her regularly and if you've already bought a shower gift for her, wrap it up and mail it to her. : )

phone calls from my friend that have nothing to do with the pregnancy and the baby are much appreciated...I've been on bedrest for 5 months so she may not need that but call her and see where she is at...
