spotting started with missed miscarriage, is it going to start?

I have had 2 early miscarriages that happened naturally and then a devastating NT scan at 12 weeks along in 08...which resulted in a D&C.

This time, I found out on Monday where I would have been 10W, 1D that baby stopped growing at 7W4D. We were given the choice to wait it out naturally (only for a week) or get the D&C. We are opting to wait it out. Well I started some spotting tonight, does that mean it's starting? Looking for those who have specifically had a missed miscarriage.

I'm so sorry for your loss. For me, it started with spotting. My situation was a little different in that I didn't know the baby had stopped growing and went to the er when I started spotting. Testing revealed that the baby had passed (I was over 11 weeks and the baby probably died around 8-9). At the hospital my cervix was still closed. I went home and the next day and didn't have any bleeding, but the following day was when I actually started m/c'ing.

i started spottting at 4w1d and found out i had a missed m/c at 8w3d. the gest sac measured right on time but the embryo measured 6w2d. i had been spotting the whole time but the day that i found out for sure that i had m/c i started cramping and bleeding bright red blood. that was on friday and my d&c was on tuesday. i chose not to wait it out. i was not passing many clots and they were very small and passed no tissue. the cramping and bright red bleeding lasted 5 days from Friday to Tuesday before the d&c. again i didnt pass any clots to speak of and no tissue. each of my m/c were missed and i got d&c's each time. i was spotting through each pg so for me spotting is how it started but i was spotting when LO had a heartbeat too. good luck to you. unfortunately there is nothing to do but wait which was the hardest thing for me. having the d&c made me at least feel like i had some closure as my dr told me it could take a long time to pass every thing and for the bleeding to stop.

Mine started with brown spotting too. I didn't know anything was wrong until I had that sign and then went to the ER where they did the u/s and told us the baby was gone. After the brown spotting it was all over for me about 24 hrs later. I'm sorry you have to go through this.

I spotted for a week & a half and had a D&C. So I'm not sure how much longer it would have taken to really start if the Dr. hadn't dialated my cervix the day before the D&C.

I am opting to wait it out too. ?I haven't had any spotting yet - except for a little last week before we knew we had lost the baby - but from most of what I have read it starts with spotting. ?Hope everything goes as smoothly as possible for you.

I had a missed miscarriage and tried to wait it out but couldn't. Ended up taking Misoprostal to speed things up...

I'm sorry for your loss. I only knew i was m/c b/c I started spotting. The PG had stopped growing at 4w6d and I m/c at 6w4d. It started as brown with little pieces of mucous. then a day later it was red. Cramps started soon after and they were painful, worse than AF. Lasted about 48 hours.

I'm going through mine right now. I started spotting Friday, and discovered I had a missed m/c yesterday at my u/s. I started bleeding, cramping, and passing tissue last night--it subsided for a bit, but then more cramping and bleeding and tissue this afternoon. I did get my hcg levels tested today and I'm at 12,000, so there is still a lot of tissue so I have my D&C tomorrow.

I'm torn on what would be better--natural or D&C, I'm sure it depends on the person. I opted for the D&C because I just wanted it to be over with--waiting just seemed horrible to me. But when everything started last night I was hoping that I wouldn't have to go through the D&C also. But the pain is horrible, at least for me. I was basically in labor--contractions and everything. I just want it to be over, so I guess I am glad that they are going ahead with the D&C to make sure all the tissue is gone so I don't have to go through the pain and bleeding anymore. I've never seen so much blood come out of my body.

I had a missed miscarriage and I never really spotted. I had to take three doses of Misoprostol to finally push my body to miscarry. I hope your body does it for you. I am very sorry for you losses. (( Big Hugs))

I'm sorry for all your losses. I had a missed m/c with my 2nd pg, and basically we tracked it from the slow heartbeat til it died. At 7w5d it was still alive measuring 6w (had measured this at 2 u/s) with a very slow heartbeat, but at 9w it had died. The doc gave me 2 weeks to let it happen naturally. My spotting started right before 11weeks.

Once the spotting started it took about a week to really increase to a low/medium flow with some clots. Over the next week I passed a few more clots, some large; and by the end of that second week I had one night with about 3 hours of very heavy cramping and passed one giant clot (the end of it). Over the next two weeks the bleeding tapered off to spotting.

The bleeding would increase briefly whenever I was getting ready to pass a clot (bleeding was slightly heavier right before and after a clot). I even filled a pad in about 30 minutes with one clot. Except when passing clots, my bleeding was like a low-medium flow period. There were a few strawberry sized clots one night and the large clot with cramping was about the size of a Rx pill bottle.

My experience is NOT typical. Most natural m/c do not take this long. From the time my spotting started to the time I passed that one large clot with cramping was 17 days. That is not common. I think for most women the bleeding/cramping/clots happens more quickly, though the cramping is usually more than what I experienced, from what I've read.

I hope that this process will be physically easy for you and doesn't take long. I'm sorry you have to go through it, but may it be the least painful possible.

I was going to take misoprostol but starting spotting the day I was to start so decided to wait to out. I started spotting on Wednesday and by Friday I had very heavy bleeding with tissue. I also had very bad lower back pains before the heavy bleeding started.

I am sorry you are going through this.

Thank you all for your well wishes and responses. My doctor is only letting me wait it out one week. So if by Tuesday, I am not passing anything, then they are going to schedule a D&C for Wednesday or Thursday. I can't imagine waiting this out for weeks. But I just feel that if we have to have the D&C, it's because we HAVE to, not because we chose to if that makes sense. I am giving my body a chance to do this naturally. I have had a D&C before and even though the actual procedure isn't bad at all, it just scares me to have 2 and I wonder what that will do (if anything) to my reproductive system.
