GUH exactly! I registered at Target and BRU, most of my friends just had babies though and they're always at BRU, so I knew it would be convenient for them, and, well, I don't know anyone who doesn't shop at Target. Truthfully I would've loved to have an amazon registry (for things that aren't at either, like the Ergo carrier I want), but my friends and family really like to GO shopping, so I knew it wouldn't have been highly used.
BRU gets smaller/more manageable to shop at the more you go. I used to be SO overwhelmed there, it all makes much more sense now.
Good luck to you and congratulations! Registering is fun

BRU and Target. I think also walmart. If you can have an idea of things you want/like before you go--chat with an associate at BRU. both stores have a list when you go of their most "popular" items--not by brand name but more like "breast pump" then all the supplies, baby bath tub and other things like that. otherwise start an on line registry then go to the store to add things/update.
take a friend with who has registered before--they can be very helpful. i took/made my hubby go with!! he loved zapping things with the gun and he actually enjoyed doing the research for certain items! or discussing what type of stroller we liked etc. heck at the woodbury bru we attended their open house and signed up for prizes and hubby was the one who one the infant car seat!! score!
Baby on Grand is where I got my carrier (Baby K'Tan), stroller (City Mini), Pacifier (Gumdrops). & other things you can't find at BRU or Target.
Like PP said Bring a friend & Test drive the strollers also over scan things, if you think would like it Scan it, then when you get home go back thru your list and remove things you really don't like or add more things.
My recommendation is to pre-shop the big items like strollers, bouncers, ect, so when you decide to go register, it's just the smaller stuff you need to do.
I'm overwhelmed by the whole thing which is why I haven't even started yet and have NO idea what I want. But I plan to look into BRU and Target just b/c that's where people will shop. I'm also looking at using myregistry.com to manage it, and then can consider some online only things. Some of the younger people will likely look into that. Plus, since I"m using the registry as my "to buy" list, it will be easier for me to manage with an online list. With this service, I think you can import your in-store registries too.
