I thought I would ask here since you ladies seem to know what your talking about:-)
We already have our BG OS CDs. However I was planning on using disposables for teh first month or two(was advised by friends to do so). So I went ahead and purchased two packages of pampers newborn and one big box of size 1s.
However after reading everything about Pampers there is no way I am going to use them on my LO. I was just wondering what do you suggest? For those that are using BG what did you use for newborn?
TIA:-)
Re: Question about the pampers...
I have a friend who is using Bummis for the newborn stage and LOVING them. He seriously cannot shut up on facebook about how fabulous they are.
We're going to do the KL0 trial from Nell's for newborn stage, and then work through some different diapers as Bugbear gets bigger to figure out what we like best.

I used mostly fitteds and covers (thirsties & wool) for the nb phase. These were my favorites and I loved them. I also had some XS BGs.
The least expensive option is prefolds and covers. I was not a fan of prefolds in the nb phase though. To tiny to deal with (both baby and the pfs, IMO).

I also wanted to say this. It is completely easy to cloth diaper a newborn. I started cloth diapering in the hospital by simply bringing them with me and putting the dirties in a hanging wetbag. I stuck them in the wash as soon as I got home and it was no big deal. Some people just use the sposies that the hospital gives them (which I think are still pampers actually) and then start CD'ing when they get home. I had about 2 dozen orange edge GMD prefolds, and 3 Thirsties Duo Wraps size one. I also had about 15 Kissaluv Contour Fitteds which DH really liked and used exclusively. He wont touch prefolds. So I think an easy and cheap option is to buy 2 doz prefolds, 3-5 covers, and then do the Kissaluv rental from I think Jillians Drawers. My DS was able to start fitting in the BG's around 5-6 weeks, and 10ish pounds. But he was 8lbs at birth too. It would probably be longer with a smaller baby.
Sorry for the double post but I was feeding DS earlier and didnt want to type a novel with one hand.

We're currently using 24 orange GMD prefolds with 6 Thirsties covers (2 snappis) and 8 KL0s size 0 for nighttime.
It has been working really well...super easy. there is really no need to wait to get into cloth imho...dive in!
ps...for the few days of black tar poo, you can put a little un-petroleum on their bums, and put kushies liners in the diapers if worried about stains.
We also used NB prefolds and tried KL0's (hated), Thirsties fitteds and some AIOs which always leaked.
I go back and forth - lots of people talked about how easy it was for them to cloth diaper at the beginning. It's very easy for me now, so I sometimes forget how I felt at the time...I was recovering from a c/s and DH wasn't totally comfortable with them. It was kind of stressful and I ended up selling everything except for one keepsake diaper because I vowed that I would NOT use cloth with subsequent babies until 6 weeks. However, I always said that I would still use a cloth diaper cover over the disposables because we had a blowout in the Pampers swaddlers every. single. time. she pooped. It was awful. If you decide to get prefolds, GMD prefolds or Abby's Lane (Diaperrite) ones are sized really well. If you decide on disposables, I really really like the Target up & up brand - we don't have issues with gel beads with them...which we did with other "EF" brands.
