Ladies who used Baby Yourself

I am planning on enrolling in this, I have a BCBS Individual Blue plan.

I remember you guys saying that you got gifts -was one of them a book for your DH ? I seem to remember that it was The Expectant Father or something similar,  but wasn't sure.

Last night at dinner I mentioned a pregnancy book a friend recommended-and DH told me he wants a book too! lol.

So I was wondering if it is that one, or if I should be looking for another one. I'll be waiting until after my 1st appt. before I sign up for anything or buy anything, but I remembered some of you ladies used this program.

  • I got to choose my book from a few...I can't remember if one of them was geared towards expectant fathers...I also got an insulated cup/straw and a hooded towel.
  • Loading the player...
  • I used it, and we did get that book.  I really liked my nurse!

I didn't get an expectant fathers book, I got a book on childhood illnesses and such.  Plus a really big mug and some other stuff.  I'm on the Individual Blue plan too.

  • I'm in the program now.  I got to choose from 3 books.  One was for fathers, but we got the 'medical version' of What to Expect in addition to a few goodies.  After a few months they sent me the How to Care for Your Child book also.  It's a free program and I love having the nurse to talk to in addition to my Ob's office.  I can sort of spread the questions and not feel like andy one person thinks I'm neurotic :)
  • I joined in my 2nd Tri, so they just sent me a book (I didn't get to choose it) with my water mug.  I LOVED my nurses.  They were super supportive.  I really liked the hooded towel...it wasn't one of those cheap ones that won't absorb much water.
  • i am a member of baby yourself, they called me and said they were going to call and check on me every so often , and if i had any questions i could call my nurse they asign that way just incase i cant get my dr i can call them. She sent me a big water mug, and my choice of book, she gave me the option of a what to expect type book, one for dh, or one called caring for you child. we got the last one cause my dh would not read one if i got him one and my dr office gave me the other one. Any they still call me and check in they are very nice. I havnt gotten any other free gifts yet, i dont know if they will even send out anything else, i just figured it would be nice to have one more person looking after me just incase something was over look. She normally asks how i feel if im having any problems, how much i weight, blood pressure just normal check in stuff, and her call dont take long, maybe 5 minutes. They are very friendly, last time they called my nurse and i were playing phone tag. lol

  • I'm glad I read this post! I have BCBS and had never heard of Baby Yourself. But now I'm enrolled :-)
  • I never used it but if you're looking for a great book - I really recommend The Birth Partner by Penny Simkin.  DH and I  both really enjoyed it - we read it together
