Infertility

Freaking out - tell me I didn't ruin everything! (2dp3dt)

Bah, I hate being a crazy infertile!

My RE requires 2 days of "taking it easy" at home after the ET. No heavy lifting, excercise, etc, but it's not bedrest, either. They even said I could go out to dinner once or twice over the two days.

So  is my last day at home, and I met a friend at a coffee shop and figured that was my "going out" for the day. Afterwarrds, I decided to just get a few things at the grocery store. It was mostly veggies, so I figured it wouldn't be heavy. I got a basket, but about half way through my shopping it felt too heavy and I freaked out. I immediately set the basket down and almost had a meltdown in the store. What was I thinking?! I ended up getting a cart and putting everything one by one into the cart (it was only 5 things) so I didn't have to carry it, and had a bagger help put everything into my car. Boo.

I just feel so scared I ruined our chances. Did I??

I am not getting off the couch for the rest of the day!

We are adopting! Currently waiting for our domestic infant adoption match.

Haha, this exactly. I'm already feeling calmer. Thank you, ladies. As I drove home all I could think was, "I can't wait to get on the IF board and get their reassurances." I knew you all would understand. I want to hug each one of you!

  • I'm going to go a step further and say I KNOW you and those precious little ones are just fine!  Everytime I do something that worries me after an ET, I always think of all the "fertile" girls out there who don't know they are pregnant and do all kinds of crazy things...and they always end up perfectly fine.  And your babies were snuggled in at the pefect place in your body thanks to your R.E....and God.  So no heavy basket is moving those tiny little babies, they are safe!  (but with that being said, don't go run a marathon or anything crazy like that...lol!)  (((HUGGS)))

  • hillaree, I'm sure that everything is fine with your little ones! I know exactly how you feel. A friend came over yesterday to visit, and I walked her out. We stood on the driveway for a bit chit-chatting, and then I was panicked that I had stood too long. You are fine!

Are you planning on POASing? I am firmly against it for myself, but lately I've been reconsidering...

No ... there is no way you ruined anything!!  It may have been a little heavy, but then you took care of it.  That is nothing to worry about.

If it makes you feel any better, on the night of my transfer I got really sick (severe bug or food poisoning).  I puked and sh!t my brains out (sorry if tmi) ALL NIGHT LONG.  I was so upset b/c this was obviously not taking it easy.  I felt completely and totally awful.  But as you can see from my ticker all turned out ok =)

  • I really think you are fine.  I carried some heavy bags during the 2ww.  Not terrible, but enough where I was winded and wishing I didn't carry them.  DH wasn't home otherwise he would have yelled at me.

    Try to relax, hon!

  • You didn't ruin everything!!!!!!

After my ET my RE said to me "I'll let you in on a little secret.  We have no evidence that abstaining from any of these activities is helpful at all, and the only reason that we tell you not to do them is so that you won't blame yourself if this is a negative!!!"

Your doctors approach sounds a lot like mine, "take it easy" for a few days, but don't worry about sitting around inside all the time.  In fact, I think I went back to work afterwards and they were fully supportive of that as long as my work demands were light and it was something that was non stressful.

My acupuncturist also backed that up and said that in fact, she is concerned that we do ourselves more harm by creating unknown stress on the body.  So if you are the type of person who hates to sit around, bed rest for 2 days is actually stressful and not recommended.

Just take it easy if it makes you feel better (and yes, delegate all those house chores and enjoy yourself!) but there is NO WAY that you have impacted the outcome of this cycle by carrying some groceries.

I'm sure it's OK since some people don't do anything different after their ET and it works just fine.

I was actually more concerned that you are drinking coffee.  That's one thing I didn't mess with just in case.

  • Awww, you are perfect!  No worries at all!

Today after my ET I held my pee for another 30 minutes after I had to because I was afraid I would pee our embie baby out.  I know this in no way, shape, or form possible, but it made me a little more at ease.  Thanks for the advice to not drink too much!  I had to put a cork in it on the way there and I thought about your advice.

  • I agree with everyone else! Don't beat yourself up about it. Lots of pregnant women do crazy sh*t before they know it and e'thing turns out fine. Those little embies are snuggled in nice and tight and aren't going anywhere.... for about nine months anyway. :)
