I wanna do it! But I'm scared sh!tless of the pain and having someone analyzing my lady parts to make sure they removed each short and curly.
How bad is the pain? Anything I should do to prep before I go in?

Oh girl, if you have never done one, you are missing out! LOL I did it for the first time for my honeymoon, and haven't shaved since (almost 5 yrs now). It is painful, especially the first time.
To prepare, I'd advice to take 2 tylenols about an hr before to help w/ the pain. Other than that, go to someone that is recommended.

A few people at work go to the same lady so I'll be making that appt. I'm leaving on a cruise the second week of June so I want to do it a few days before. I even want to do my legs.
No one can tell me it's like going to the obgyn. Cause I'm sorry, the guy barely looks there.
Oh no! This lady will see it all, even parts that you have ever seen. lol!
I did my legs (up to knees) for honeymoon too, and it wasn't that bad... the shins are the most painful IMO. But the pain only lasts a few seconds.
And as for the embarrassment, the first time is the worst, especially that I wasn't used a woman seeing my parts, but now I am just used to it. They arent' analyzing you... this is what they do day in and day out. They see it all!
Jen - I go to UniK Wax in Pinecrest... in the shopping center where Roasters and Toasters is (US1 and 96ish). Katherine is awesome, and so is Lissette. They both do a great job at talking to you and entertaining you through the appt so it goes faster.

Okay, this is for the "back" I mentioned before. Otherwise, you just lay w/ knees bent and feet together (so like a frog), and they wax and rip. For me, the post painful is the "lips"

It's not that bad. They get there through the front, lmaoo!
You have to put your feet up and hold them to your chest and they go about their business. It's the fastest part that they do.
I have also had to do the butterfly, wherer you lay and do a butterfly postition with your legs, that's the most uncomfortable part.
I just keep getting mental pictures.

IMO the pain of laser is A LOT WORSE! I began doing it in my underarms, sideburns, and lip... and dreaded those appts. And the only reason I stopped was b/c of the pg. So need to go back soon.

I used to do it all the time!! It hurts the first time but then it's really not that bad. After you go a few times, it's nothing. I promise! I wouldn't do a brazilian the first time though, just groom a little, then work up to it.
I've been meaning to do it again, but haven't made the appt!! I go to someone in the Aventura area.
Ok, how long should the hair be? I don't want to go in there with a 70's bush and have her bust out the weedeater.
It has to be long, not 70's bush long but long enough for them to grab something. One time I went and the lady was refusing to do anything to me because she said it was too short, and that was after two weeks.
Oh goodness! LMAO. I think 1/2 in is sufficient. But they do see that 70s bush often! I have been told stories which would make you die of embarrassment for those women. LOL

Not too long, but not too short. I know that's not that helpful but I think it hurts more one way and the other way it's more difficult to pull out with the wax. IDK maybe 1/4 inch?

If I were you, I'd go w/it longer than you think. The tech will also trim if needed.

I too, do it all - but my lady has me lay on my side to do the back - the back doesn't hurt at all compared with the rest of the brazilian... I started doing it a few months before we got married and still go to the same lady (almost 7 years later) (she's near Dadeland Station). I've only ever been to her, def would feel weird to go to anyone else.
Go for it - once you do, you won't go back to shaving!
I agree about going longer than you think, they can trim it for you if it's too long.
It's awesome though, seriously - no comparison to shaving!!!
And I almost forgot, don't go right before AF for some reason it hurts worse when you're PMSing.
I agree with the rest of the ladies. The first time is the worst. But after that if you are consistent the hair starts to grow back softer and slower. I have been doing it for years and would never go back to shaving that area. Make sure you exfoliate well, it helps with not getting ingrowns.
I go to Diana at European Wax Center in Kendall. She is the best.

It's not that bad!!! I take two motrin beforehand and it's all good. The results afterwards are worth it. No bumps, no stubble for at least two weeks (unless your hair grows really fast) and no mess in the shower.
Ok I usually only lurk here because I am not TTC, but I had to comment!
Do it! I have been doing it for two years regularly and have convinced many friends and family members to go too!
The first time is definitely the worst and hurts the most. Definitely take two or three advil beforehand. If you go continuously though the hair becomes weak and for me, it barely hurts now at all. What hurts is if you skip and go irregularly or if you shave in between. Shaving makes the hair thick and hard to pull out.
As far as the length, you are supposed to go every 3-4 weeks, so I would let it grow out for that long. They do trim if its too long. If it's too short it doesn't come out as clean, so let it grow out
.
Oh and the butt is totally embarrassing. I have done it with the cheek spreading and also with the knees to the chest. But, you get over it. At first I was super shy and now I walk in, drop my pants, and get on the table without her even asking. They see vajayjays all day and if you get someone good, they talk and joke and make you feel comfortable.
One final thing! Go to UniK or European Wax Center, they don't use strips there and they have special wax only sticks to the hair, not the skin. I have heard horror stories about salons and other places...
