Babies: 9 - 12 Months

A baby clothes observation

When I was going through K's clothing, unpacking for Riley, I noticed A LOT of her clothes still had tags on them. Embarrassed

We really didn't receive all that many clothing gifts. Guess I MAY have went a little overboard buying clothes. Girl clothes are addicting so I have an excuse. ;P

Anyone else notice this as they packed away clothes?

Re: A baby clothes observation

  • Yes! Or I can tell if a onesie or outfit has not been worn when I pack them away because the buttons are still snapped and when I wash them I never re-snap.

  • Yep. I had a bunch that didn't fit them with the seasons. No one knew how big they'd be so I left all tags on and have been gifting some things at showers and returned a few other.

I think I had 30 outfits between NB and 3-6 that were never worn and still had tags.

  • I put away stuff he never wore. But I barely bought him anything, I still haven't. I think I've bought maybe 8 outfits since he's been born.

We got a ton of hand me downs from a friend at work, and then my mom, my MIL and my aunt-in-law went nuts.

  • My problem was I took the tags off everything right away, washed it all, and hung/folded it so it would be "ready" for DS.  But then he didn't end up wearing 1/2 the NMS outfits that were gifts (in small sizes).  The first couple months he wore onesies everyday.  I never dressed him up...since those outfits weren't comfy.

I should have waited to de-tag everything when I was ready for him to wear it.  Now I have lots of never worn outfits, without tags so I can't get as much out of them.

Yup. Some have no tags because I took the tags off to put it on DD and it didn't fit. She outgrew a lot of stuff she never got to wear. If our next one is a girl, we've got it made.
  • I have packed up more new clothes of DD's then I did for DS.  BUT a lot of this is because of wrong sizing for wrong season and also because she's been in the 3-6 month size for so long.  Newborn was too big on her for about 3 weeks and then she was in 0-3 for quite awhile.

This. Some of the outfits make me really sad too because I really loved them but I couldn't put my kid in shorts during the winter. I had no idea how fast he'd grow. I've given a lot away to a good friend who has a younger son.

This!  She was early, and a peanut to the max!, so many people got us outfits that ended up being too big during the warmer season.

I just passed all of my girl clothes to my sister who is due here in June and literally 50% of the things that I packed still had tags on them.  My sister warned everyone to not get her any clothes from 0-6mos because I had given so many.

Too bad I took the tags off everything and washed it (damn nesting), otherwise I could return or regift!

  • The beauty of living in south florida is that my daughter could basically wear any gift she got...even if they were too big for a while, because it is always warm here and the outfits never were the wrong season.  The only thing that was basically never worn was dress up outfits in the 3 month size because we never went anywhere really and I always had her in comfy clothes when she was that little.

  • Yes, anytime I pack away I size I pack ones with tags. Most are really cute and I keep saving them for "a special occasion" LOL.

  • I only have one baby, but I did put away a lot of clothes with tags too. I think for the longest time I was in denial that my son would actually fit in some of the larger clothes (that he was no longer a tiny newborn), so by the time I pulled them out for him to wear, some were too small, and some he only wore a couple of times.
