So I know that Emilee Madison highly recommends this carseat. It is on sale right now near me. I was reading the reviews on BRU and a lot of people made the comment that because there is such a large "base" underneath the seat, the child sits really high in the car.
One poster even stated that her child's head was near the roof of their SUV because of the way the seat sat. Because of the high placement of the child, it was hard to get the child in and out of the vehicle.
Another common comment was that it was really hard to adjust and do up straps when rear facing.
For those who have this seat, can you tell me if the above comments seem to be true or provide any feedback on the seat.
Thanks.
Re: Question about Graco My Ride 65
We were considering this carseat for DD but decided against it from the reviews I've seen. It was going to be our 2nd seat for out Toyota Corolla. It would not fit properly because of the size of the seat. DH is very tall and wouldn't be able to sit in the driver's seat if the seat were installed behind it. It's his car so that just wouldn't work
EDIT: The infant seat would be on the passenger side so installing on the opposite side wouldn't work either!
What did you get instead?
We haven't purchased a second convertible yet. DD's is a Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite. Absolutely HATE IT! The straps are a nightmare RF'ing. I really want a Britax but..... DH and I are going to go to BRU after DD is born and try different seats in the car. I think this is the only way we are going to be able to see what's going to fit best.
I am hoping someone will reply to your post that has a smaller car and can recommend a seat.

The base of the MyRide is comparable to a lot of other convertible seats, including Britax seats (which seem higher to me). I cant imagine how a child's head would be anywhere near the roof of a vehicle in this (or any) seat. If that were true, how would an adult sit in the back seat at all? As for adjusting the harness while RF, this is sometimes tricky with a LOT of seats, so it's not a unique issue with the MyRide. But, it's still perfectly manageable.
I know a lot of people love the Symphony65 because it's smaller and converts to a booster later. However, I dont usually suggest this seat. The drawback to it being smaller is that your child will outgrow it by height (and even possibly weight) before they're ready for the booster mode. Most kids are not mature enough (which is a HUGE factor in deciding to use a booster) nor large enough to SAFELY use a booster until age 5+.
The First Years TrueFit and Graco MyRide are excellent seats that will last until most kids are truly ready for a booster.
