Daycare for infants in Chicago lakeview area

I've heard nightmares about long waiting lists, so I'm starting my research now even though I'm only 7 weeks.  Crazy that I'm researching this before I even tell my own mother that I'm pregnant!

Anyway, I see tons of people walking around with strollers in our neighborhood (Lakeview)...but not a lot of day care centers.  I'm googling and I've been on yelp and I'm not coming up with really anything.

Does anyone have any reccomendations?  Daycare centers, in home centers and maybe even where to find people interested in nanny shares?

    First, congrats on your BFP!  Second, I totally agree - we live in Lakeview and there are strollers everywhere, so where are all the daycares? 

    I used Neighborhood Parents Network to find a daycare.  You have to pay to join, but they have message boards for daycare centers and nannies.  I contacted all the daycares I could find that were within a reasonable distance and put my name on every waiting list.  We were lucky to find one that could take LO when we needed her to start.  Unfortunately (or fortunately?), I got laid off  and never had to use the daycare.  GL!

    I'm sorry to hear about your lay off, but it sounds like maybe it worked out for the best. (Your LO is adorable by the way!)

    Out of curiosity, what was the one you almost went with?

    Ditto NPN.  We found our nanny there (had a nanny for 1st year) and our current daycare center.

    And I would ABSOLUTELY start looking now.  We got on a few waitlists at centers before I even hit the 2nd trimester- and didn't get a spot at one place until DS was over 1 year old!

    Sorry, just seeing this now.  First, thanks!  We think DD is pretty cute too! :) And I agree, the lay off has allowed me to spend time with LO, so that is great, but being with her makes me less motivated to find a new job.  Sigh. 

    Anyway, the daycare is called KC's Academy.  When we went to visit, we liked the director and the teachers.  It was late afternoon and a lot of the kids were still there and seemed happy and well taken care of.  Parents were starting to pick up their kids, and they all seemed to have a good relationship with the staff.  There is a recent bad review on yelp, but who knows if it's true or not.  I had seen all good things about it on npn.
