I might get a bright picture book with fold out pages or textured pages that make it fun. (I love pop ups, but at 2, they'd likely get torn up too easily.)
Also, do you know if he is into tools? I bought my nephew the cutest Handy Manny tools at Wal Mart at Chrismas , and they were inexpensive and simple, not too noisy.
You are probably on your way home but you can't go wrong with trains, trucks or cars for 2 yo boys. We have so many trains! I think Tonka makes some age specific type cars and trucks too.
