i still have about 15-20 pounds i would like to lose to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight. i'm eating much healthier now and i know in order to get this weight off, i need to exercise. i just don't feel like i have the time. between taking care of DD, cooking, cleaning (keeping the house looking semi-decent), errands, etc.
i really want a treadmill but it's not in the budget right now. we've been walking around the neighborhood. but it's either way tooooo hot or it's raining for the past few days.
how are you exercising? i'd love to hear some creative things you're doing to shead those pregnancy pounds.
Re: exercise... who has time?!
I'm having the same issue. I'm at work all day. Rush home. Feed DD. Cook dinner. Eat dinner. Feed DD again. Load the dishwasher. Wipe down the stove. Spend time bonding with DD. Give her a bath. Then it's time for bed.
I'm going to try to start running for at least an hour each night, but I'm not sure how well it's going to work out when DH is working nights.
In the meantime I've been doing crunches while holding DD lol.
I love exercises that you can get your whole body into and you don't need many "props" for.
You would mainly just need some dumbbells.
Wall Squats....while doing shoulder presses
Lunges while doing bicep curls or walking lunges down the hall
Step ups(onto something: we have a workout bench but I have used other household things to step onto) while doing an arm exercise
If you get an exercise ball you can do so many exercises using that for the whole body and they usually come with a card that teaches them
By getting your whole body in each exercise you are getting more out of your time and work up quite a sweat with them.
Hope it helped with some ideas
I do the 30 day shred. It's only 20 mins and I get it done on one of LO's naps. I also have a tradmill but don't use it. And DH and I take the dog and Lo out for a walk after dinner...
It took me a couple weeks to get it figured out and some days it's hard, but I try to make it work best that I can!
I was so excited to finally get the ok to start working out again and then i was like "when do i have the time??!" At the same time, DS became very fussy and cried alot and always wanted to be held, so it just made it so much harder. I was exhausted constantly, so I asked for help. I had my sister come and watch him while i did things around the house so that stuff was off my mind. I started taking him for little walks when i had the time. DH would watch him just so i could get in like 30min of anything.
Now what i do is go for walks w/him at least a couple days a week and b/c i'm short on time i really make it work by going up and down the same really big hill at a fast pace. 1-2x/week i go for a fast bike ride in the trails w/DH while a family member watches DS. And I do 20min of pilates 3x/week while DH watches him. Now that he seems to have gotten better I can seem to fit in at least 2 days of of 30min. turbo jam dvd. If i was getting more sleep through the night, i could probably even fit in more, but that's not the case right now. I'm trying to get my diet back on track to hopefully lose the extra weight b/c as of now nothing else has fallen off since the 17lbs i lost right after birth.
I definitely think if you can get some workout tapes/dvds it would help a ton. Even looking on websites for magazines like fitness and shape for workouts you can do at home. Basicaly anything you can do w/o even leaving your home is really helpful. And when you can go out for a walk w/LO, make it really count by pushing yourself.
