Babies: 9 - 12 Months

waking 4-6 times @ 10+mths?

I posted a few days ago about this ...... someone suggested sleep clinic (I'm so desperate I just might look into it, but DH thinks I'm nuts for entertaining the thought)

I stayed up a lil longer last night just to "watch" her on the monitor and see if  there was a reason.  Yes and No.  Yes, because she moves up and kind of bumps her head on the rails (took bumpers off a while back)  and NO because she'll just POP up (sit or stand) and then cry.  Tongue Tied

Could this be a phase to where she is just so eager to stand that she's compelled to wake and do so?

I feel like there may be a logical explanation but I am to freakin tired to even think straight! It's like having a newborn all over again and it's putting such a strain on us both

Has anyone elses LO had "waking fits" like this?

Yes, when they are learning a new skill like standing or walking, it will keep them up at night for a while.  They are "practicing" in their sleep.  Hang in there, this too shall pass!

  • My LO pops awake when he sleeps in his crib.  He just stands straight us as if he was never sleep.  Every night he does this.  He starts out in his crib and after a couple of hours wakes up.  Once I put him in bed with us, he will sleep the rest of the night.

  • We are not there yet but our pedi talked to us about the10 month middle of the night wakings.  She said this is a huge developmental time and that most babies have a rough time around 10 months.

She was mentioning it to us since we do not do CIO and generally have a good sleeper.  She wanted us to know what would happen and that it would pass so we would not do CIO at that point since it is something we feel pretty strongly about.

Hope you get some sleep soon and know that its totally normal and will pass!
